The Bar Code Print. How to Win the Baby Shower Wars
You know the feeling. Everyone is sitting around at the shower, rifling through mounds of wrapping paper and unpacking those boxes of plastic stuff you’ve seen a million times before. Wouldn’t every shower be infinitely more bearable if the object of the whole spectacale was to bring something that no one has ever seen before?
If your circle of friends are always trying to one-up each other in the coolest shower gift category (and whose aren’t?) look no further than this amazing (and slightly Orwellian) Bar Code print out of Australia. Created by the supremely talented graphic designer Mariana Garcia- Katz, the Bar Code prints will make you the winner of the shower wars.
Click through for a chance to win a bar code print of your very own!
But let’s take a closer look. Not only is this piece of art gorgeous, it’s also a modern and quirky way to document your child’s birth. After all, all those footprints and tiny handprints get a bit old after a while. Not only can you pick a color to match your own nursery, you can personalize the work with child’s name, birthday, time of birth and birth order all in one gorgeous package.
And the best part of all is the price. $40 USD, plus $10 shipping from Australia. A sweet deal for a seriously sweet find!
>>CONGRATS: Megan Templeton. You’ve won this piece of brilliant baby art!

e commented on Sep 15 10 at 2:29 pmAm I the only person who thinks this is weird? I would not want to receive this as a gift. And whose friends are trying to one up each other at a baby shower? In my group of friends and family a shower is about helping a new family prepare for a baby… which means buying practical and useful gifts. This is just bizarre.
helen commented on Sep 15 10 at 2:55 pmthis is so creative and modern–love it!

Carrie Cotton commented on Sep 16 10 at 11:24 amThis is such a great present to give a mom!! Wonderful idea!
madplanner commented on Sep 16 10 at 7:36 pmI imagine this would be given AFTER the birth of the child and would hence be too early to give at a traditional baby shower. Either way, it’s gorgeous and I love the simplicity and contemporary feel to it. Great for a family who are stylistas!
Cassidy commented on Sep 17 10 at 1:05 amThis couldn’t be a shower gift… no one knows the date or time of birth until AFTER the baby is born! Plus this would be very easy to make in photoshop and print yourself for maybe a total of $5. Definitely wouldn’t pay $50 for it!
Shannon commented on Sep 17 10 at 7:02 amI think this is a beautiful and unique gift for a newborn. And just quietly, I would love to see your efforts in Photoshop Cassidy! There is an incredible amount of artist and technical skill behind these. :)
sashiko commented on Sep 17 10 at 10:38 amA wonderfully unique present from birth to ….. Just quietly Cassidy, without an original, cheap replicas can’t be made.

Jonathan commented on Dec 14 10 at 2:23 pmGod that sucks.
1. That’s basic Illustrator skills here. Nothing extraordinary at all.
2. A barcode is associated with consumerism. What is so nice about making a parallel between your newborn and a barcode?
3. Most of you have no taste. Sorry, that is a fact, not an opinion :(
imogen commented on Jan 04 11 at 4:39 amcool concept!
wow jonathan.. i’m here to say it is in fact an opinion.
did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed that morning or forget to take your chill pill? to go out of your way to write such a comment? you didn’t listen to your mama did you? ‘if you can’t say anything nice.. don’t say anything at all’
