Fashion’s Night Out 2010 for Moms!
Even if you’ve never set foot in New York, odds are that you’ve heard about New York Fashion Week: the magical time that the fashion gods and their loyal worshippers join as equals to celebrate all things beautiful. It’s beyond big.
And tomorrow night marks another annual Fashion’s Night Out, which is like a gigantic island-wide party with 1,280 events, hoards of celebrities and exclusive discounts. It’s like nirvana for fashionistas of all kinds — even mere mortal moms like us.
In fact, some of the events are geared right toward fashionable moms rather than the typical single ladies who have all the money to blow on Jimmy Choo UGG boots and customizable Chanel flats. Not that we should really be surprised — not with all the big name celebrity moms out there to represent us.

If anyone can make pregnancy look sexy, it’s the always-lovely Heidi Klum. She’ll be hosting a free event where moms can chat with the maternity icon as well as celebrate the evolution of maternity fashion from 1950 to 2010, ending with a first look at her Fall collections for Motherhood Maternity and A Pea in the Pod. Destination Maternity: 28 East 57th Street at Madison Avenue, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. (FYI: Heidi will only be there until 8:30.)
Keep your eyes out for the traveling Ken Doll Truck, filled with real-life Ken hunks to take your picture with. If that’s not a reward for hours of imaginative play, I don’t know what is. This is your chance to mingle with the most out-of-our-league celebrity moms like Victoria Beckham, Kelly Rutherford and Nicole Richie, while also watching a “Best in Show” celebrity dog competition. Ok, this has absolutely nothing to do with moms, but Project Runway’s Michael Kors is said to be performing — that’s right, as in singing — with Glee’s incredible Idina Menzel. The time hasn’t been confirmed, but I’d stick around to see this. 667 Madison Avenue. (Photo via Styleite.)
Oh, and on a side note for all you Project Runway fans: The entire cast (along with Rachel Zoe, btw) will be at Piperlime’s new pop-up shop at 93 Mercer Street until 11 p.m. And even more exciting? Tim Gunn will be at Kate Spade (454 Broome Street) hosting a window-decorating contest. Love it!
