It’s called a SwitchFlop and it’s more than a shoe, it’s a footwear concept. Instead of buying multiple flip flops in many colors, why not have one shoe with colorful straps you can switch out? See, I told you it makes perfect sense.
They’re also economical and fun and let’s be honest, there aren’t many products around that address both. Perfect for today’s thrifty fashionistas, SwitchFlops are like Transformers for your feet.
“Change your look, not your sole,” says Lindsay, the founder of these clever flops.
Don’t feel bad, I didn’t think of it either. Who did? SwitchFlops are the brainchild of Lindsay Philips. She was 16 when she had her shoe epiphany. In fact, it was a high school art project that turned into a lucrative business. And by lucrative, I mean she’s running a $30 million business today.
In addition to the basic sandal, you can find adorable ballet flats, wedges, kid’s shoes and more that boast the same hip concept. Each strap option is quite pretty and finished with some kind of decorative flower or button. Polished and pretty. Here’s a taste of the endless strap possibilities:
Her website has a great 2010 Lookbook and a video demo of the products. The shopping site seems to be down today and I’m guessing that’s because her shoes are trending on Google. Not a bad problem to have now, is it?
