What Kid Wouldn’t Love This?
I’m flipping out over this play mat! It’s a fun toy. It’s an accurate map. It’s a learning tool. It’s very good-looking. And it’s incredibly cool!
It was a gift for a grandson’s 6th birthday. The (very awesome) Grandma, hand-painted it using these directions. It’s a perfectly detailed map of her grandson’s neighborhood, including his house, surrounding parks, friends’ houses and other favorite hangouts.
With a play mat like this, little vehicles and Lego characters can have fabulous adventures cruising around the neighborhood — while your kids are learning street names and how to read a map at the same time. You can see a full photo after the jump.
We were talking play mats at Design Mom earlier this week. If you’re not up for painting your own, you can find some great ready-to-buy options here.
Thanks for the great idea, Erin!
