You are not going to believe this. See the portrait featured here? Well. It’s not a photograph. It’s not a drawing. It’s not a painting. No oil pastels or colored pencils or even crayons were involved. This portrait? It was embroidered. Embroidered! As in made with a needle and thread.

The artist is Cayce Zavaglia, and she started embroidering artwork when she was pregnant and looking for a non-toxic method of portraiture. Thinking about having a portrait of your child made? Why not add embroidery to your list of options — because Cayce does baby pictures too.

I have been doing needle work for 33 years… NEVER have I seen anything this beautiful done by hand… Absolutely awe inspirering. :)

My grandmother has made on of these for all her grandchildren. We get them as a reminder of her love when she passes. It’s such a nifty procedure.

It’s stitch by numbers. A computer prints out the exact pattern, and all the person has to do is follow the numbers.

aaannnd (*for carlos) it is posible i know wre in the 20eth century but man you wouldnt be able to live in the woods without takin thigns that need electricity!!! dude get of the computer and read o book go play outside or … VISIT YOUR GRANDMA its not such a big deal dude ¡¡!!!!

o.m.g. talk about patience and talent! when i was pregnant, i had to pee so much i’d prob never get the needle threaded with different a color before i’d be up again. amazing artist. love love love it.
