Go, Go, Go! Top Picks for Sane and Stylish Family Travel
Plain, trains, automobiles…no matter how you get to where you’re going this summer, traveling with kids is no easy feat. In fact, I’ve recently stopped calling family vacations “vacations” and have relegated them the “trip” category. For me, a vacation for means lounging poolside with a Margarita in hand, sleeping in late and getting massaged to an inch of my life. Needless to say, that doesn’t happen when you’re on the road with kids.
Still, there are plenty of new products that are trying to put the vacay back into traveling and help parents stay sane and kids stay happy.
Check out the must-have travel items for your next trip after the jump…
Guava Go Crib (photo above)
Up until now, there ‘s been no elegant, portable solution to sleeping on the road, save that old Pack & Play standby. Thankfully, Guava Family has just released a beautiful, modern and portable solution. Just inflate the crib using the pump provided and your kids will sleep soundly through the night. And you can pack it all up in the provided backpack (weighs only 8 pounds), so you can check in, check out and go.
Little Honey Travel Pillows
There’s nothing worse than the droopy head syndrome. These adorable travel pillows from Little Honey are just the thing for catching some zzz’s on the plane or in the car. With four adorable designs from NYC-based artist Matthew Langille (the same artist who just happened to design many of the Fluf lunch bags I featured last week), the pillows are going to be hot sellers at Little Honey beginning September 1.
Cares Air Harness
There’s nothing worse than lugging your car seat on the plane. Still, a recent warning from the FAA states that kids must be protected from all that turbulence and that lap belts are simply not enough. The Cares Child Aviation Restraint solves the problem for toddlers and kids by securing them safely in their chairs and offering them good range of movement. It’s the only harness that’s FAA-approved and recommended, which should be all the peace of mind you need.
My Phones
Whether they’re watching a movie, listening to the latest in Kindie CDs, or trying to muffle the noise of the engines to sleep, these new kid headphones from MyPhones (suggested by the fab Little Lunalu blog) are the way to go. With an audio limit setting that protects sensitive ear buds and the option to design their own pair, your kids won’t leave home without them.
Reisenthel Mother Child Bag
Who doesn’t need an extra bag or a hand, for that matter, on family trips? I discovered this canvas Mother Child wonder a few months back and it does double duty to help you corral the brood while giving you a light shopping bag you can squish into your carryon to hold all those souvenirs. Oh and did I mention how cute!
Dipe ‘N Go
For the SUV family, here comes a new portable changing station from Dipe ‘N Go that might just change your life. No more looking for a quick place to change. Just attach this inside the trunk and roll it out for a quick and stylish changing solution.
