ABC Blocks Make Learning Fun!

UL14HIRES 2 300x300 ABC Blocks Make Learning Fun! Well, he’s mastered the song, so I’m trying really hard to get my almost three-year-old, son, to identify all of the letters in the alphabet. He’s got A, B, C, J (for Jack, his name) and a few more down. Good start!

Unless I make verbalizing what he sees fun, he’s not game. Well, JD loves building epic block towers, then of course, crashing into them with a truck–or his body. So, I set off on a mission to find some super-cool ABC blocks.

To the rescue: Uncle Goose Upper And Lower Case Alphabet Blocks. For more info on this great learning toy, keep reading.  Big, bright lettering make this block set engaging and fun to build (and learn) with. To get my son identifying the letters, we sit on the floor together and build fun structures like a car wash, or ice cream parlor (last night, a tent for Go, Diego, Go!). I ask him to find the letter K and sometimes hint that it’s green (so, yep, this set totally enforces colors too!). This eye-spy game of alphabet block-building works for us–try it out and see for yourself!

Need more convincing? A recent study reported in Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine finds a strong association between playing with building blocks and a significant increase in language scores in young children. On average, kids who played with blocks scored 15 percent higher on their language assessment than those who did not. What did I tell ya!

Those blocks look great, and I love that they have both upper and lower case letters!
My son also used the bath letters a ton! I think these embroidered letters from Play to Learn look fun too. I posted here: http://tinyurl.com/2erda6a
