Straw Tote Bags: Beach, Boardwalk and Beyond
As most of you know I’m out in East Hampton for the the week and today we strolled down the main drag, popping in and out of shops. The newest addition is the Balenciaga store and, naturally, we took a peek inside. They had an amazing natural with black stripe straw tote with tan leather handles and the signature Balenciaga zippers and buckles. It truly was a beautiful bag, but being Balenciaga, of course it was not inexpensive. But it got me thinking again about how great a straw bag is for summer. I remember buying the traditional Provencal straw tote with leather handles one summer in the South of France, and using it for the beach and food shopping. I felt tres Francais but had to leave it with my brother as it was a bit too cumbersome to pack.
There are so many stylish versions of the straw tote out there and they are all multi-purpose—as perfect for the plage as they are for shopping Main street. I am particularly fond of this one from Gap which is on sale right now for 19.99. At that price, I can buy the bag and fill it with some other goodies.
