Cool, Non-Matchy Threads for Twins
I always marvel at moms with twins. I mean, I can barely keep up with the demands of one toddler let alone deal with two. How in the world do these moms handle the double trouble? And when it comes to buying clothes for two, I’m surprised these moms don’t employ a full-time personal stylist or just keep the babies in diapers all day.
After all, there’s nothing worse than matching twins clothing, right? Where’s the individuality? Where’s the cool factor? I can just imagine those poor twins complaining about their photos years from now.

Twin mums dress their kids alike because finding complimentary outfits in the stores doesn’t always happen (nice work Lourdes-pity about $), deciding which outfit to put on which child involves decisions which a mother doesn’t want to make because it takes more time and might imply favourtism, an exhausted twin mother doesn’t have the energy to make extra decisions, the washbasket is easier to manage (ie like colours in the washing machine and then the outfits stay together during the laundry process) and dressing them identically makes it easier for exhausted mothers to spot their kids as they run off in different directions, and easier for others to see that they “belong” together, and finally, dressing them alike prevents a lot of tantrums! As the kids get older they will influence the choice but 50% of the time “I want to be the same” is what they say. We aim for “same but different” but not all “differences” are equally appealing. Besides there is a HUGE cuteness factor, a “twin power” factor, their unique bond is something to be nurtured not ignored. Besides there are plenty of non-twin siblings who are dressed in matching outfits everyday- no one criticises their mothers. Clothing alone doesn’t make anybody an individual or uncool!
