Jeans Good for the Butt 300x286 5 Flattering Jeans: Show Off Your AssetsIf you haven’t already heard the news, plump backsides are the hot trend for 2010. Yes, I’m talking about big bums. According to an article in the NY Daily News yesterday, thanks to bootylicious stars like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Serena Williams, an ample derriere may be your biggest fashion…uhm, asset…this season.

I personally love the fact that women with curves are being embraced but the truth is most women gripe about their butts. I’ve heard it all – from having a “pancake” butt that’s too flat to having a “bubble” butt that’s too round. I find this particularly true after pregnancy, because gaining and losing weight in a relatively short period of time doesn’t seem to leave you with a perky backside. (Thanks, gravity.)

If you want to show off your curves and enhance your booty, one of the easiest ways is with a great pair of jeans. Here are five styles that fit the bill.

Finding flattering denim for your butt isn’t rocket science, but there is a method to the madness. Look for jeans that are a blend of cotton and Lycra or spandex. This keeps your jeans from stretching out too much. 100% cotton jeans don’t always stay snug in all the right places. Don’t do the “mom jeans” thing. I mean don’t buy a pair of jeans with teeny tiny back pockets that sit high above your butt. Try on jeans with larger pockets that actually define your backside. Ever wonder why Seven for All Mankind jeans look so good on every body type? The secret is in the pocket placement.

With all of these helpful hints in mind, let’s take a look at five flattering jeans. What’s your favorite brand?

[...] I’ve always been a fan of designer jeans. In fact, when I was in middle school I saved money to buy a pair of Guess jeans.  They were light blue with zippers at the ankles and I think they cost around $80. I loved them! As an adult, I still love designer jeans.  I don’t shop according to brands, but I tend to like the pricey ones. I wear jeans a lot – like a uniform – so it doesn’t bother to me to spend a bit on them. I’m also not willing to sacrifice style for price. If they don’t look good, I won’t wear them anyway. Now that would be a waste of money. [...]
