Easy Peasy Project: DIY Kids Stationery

stamp stationery 266x300 Easy Peasy Project: DIY Kids StationeryWhen my daughter was born I spent a weird amount of time trying to pick out thank-you notes.

Some were a little too cute, others a little too busy, others a little too formal, and most were a lot too pricey. Nothing felt right. In the end (after literally weeks of shopping), the solution came in the form of a rubber stamp “D”.

I picked up a few packs of Crane’s ecru flat notes, and a couple ink pads in pretty colors, and I was able to churn out dozens of personalized note cards in one afternoon, for a fraction of the cost of custom stationery. I love that they feel handmade, but still classic. And I love that I can make more any time I need them.

If these are too boring for your taste, read on. Rubber stamps are enjoying a trendy resurgence, and some of my favorite artists and illustrators are putting out stamp sets that you can use to create chic cards and notes for kids of all ages.

Even better, older kids can practically do this project themselves. Let them choose their stamps and ink colors, decide where the motifs should go, and execute their designs. If things end up slightly tilted or lopsided, it will only make them more endearing.

A few excellent rubber stamp sets:
