Traveling With Kids Just Got Easier
Summer is here and families are hitting the road, mine among them. In the past two weeks we’ve been on three jumbo jets and endured two 4-hour-plus roadtrips. So by necessity I have developed into a one-woman traveling circus, alternately singing, telling stories, playing games, making funny faces, and juggling for hours on end. (By juggling I mean engaging my daughter in a steady stream of iPad apps without letting her hit the oh-so-exciting button that means we have to start all over.)
In addition to providing entertainment, it also falls on me to provide sustenance, and—more importantly for the other travelers on our flight—soothing comfort for a tired toddler. Which is why I am always lugging around a small cooler full of milk and various sippy cups, as well as one beloved bottle, as a last resort (she gave ‘em up months ago, but when you are circling Laguardia airport three hours after bedtime you want access to every weapon in your arsenal).
Happily, I have just discovered an all-in-one solution that will significantly lighten my load. The Birds & Bees bottles by EarthLust are made of food-grade stainless steel (BPA, PVC, and Phthalate-free) and are insulated, so they keep milk cold for up to four hours. Plus, each bottle comes with both a nipple and a sippy-cup spout, which are interchangeable. This is great for transitioning tots off the bottle, but also means I don’t have to cram a whole extra bottle into my carry-on just in case air-traffic control has it out for me. Now who’s afraid of a little bumper-to-bumper traffic? Bon voyage!
