Out Of The Ordinary Heirloom Gifts for Baby
You know your expectant friend is going to end up with all the baby essentials one way or another (the layette, the crib, the stroller…). So why not give her something out of the ordinary? May I suggest an item or two from the newly launched line of heirloom baby gifts at Paloma’s Nest?
Everything at Paloma’s nest is handmade. And only the simplest materials — clay, wood, porcelain and cloth — are used. I think it’s those simple materials, combined with the simple shapes and designs, that make me crave these. Don’t they seem so timeless?
See some of my favorites picks from the new collection after the jump.
A maple wood hanger with the baby’s name stamped in rustic lettering.
Animal ornaments to add some subtle decoration to the nursery. Wouldn’t it be sweet to hang one from the doorknob?
Or, this simple ceramic bowl, imprinted with encouraging words. The perfect place to keep a stash of pacis.
What do you think? Do you prefer practical gifts? Would you enjoy receiving an heirloom piece? Do you like customized gifts with your baby’s name or initial?

Lauren commented on Jun 06 10 at 8:08 amMy favourite baby present arrived after the birth of our third daughter — monogrammed child-sized silverware. Not childish, just small. And so beautiful.

The most lovely part of this present is that the giver provided three sets — one for each of my daughters.
(But, curses! now I have to find matching sets for the baby #4 and any future children!)
