Recycled Toy Furniture Is Way More Chic in Europe

tinplayfurniture1 Recycled Toy Furniture Is Way More Chic in EuropeWhy does it seem like everything is cooler in Europe? Today’s example: Take a look at this recycled toy furniture made by Rafinesse and Tristesse. Aren’t these pieces fantastic?

Here’s the story. The company philosophy is to use as much recycled material in every creation as they possibly can. In fact, look closely and you’ll see signs of a previous life, like scratches and dents, in the materials used to build these charming playthings — all part of the charm. Every single piece they sell is handmade and because of the unique materials, no two are exactly alike.

I’m thinking this is the hippest play furniture I’ve ever come across. How savvy/chic/cosmopolitan would your playroom be with a kitchen sink made from an olive tin covered in Italian lettering? Extra bonus: every cookstove and kitchen sink come with accessories — a musical box, a pot holder, an oven glove and tea towels. Want some recycled toy furniture for yourself? Happily, these pieces are available worldwide. Find a list of stores here.

What do you think? How do you feel about the “used materials” philosophy? Would it bug you to see scratches or dents if you bought these?

I think they’re adorable. My only concern would be the corners of the metal toys look very sharp.

Love this idea. And I’m not even a mommy. (I am a daddy, though.)

These are definitely gorgeous, but kind of out-of-reach at $315 each.

Great stuff and something I would attempt to recreate at home. Looks like fun.
