A Recipe for Homemade Peanut Butter
There are few foods as universally loved as peanut butter. Although the original is no more than peanuts pureed into a thick paste – something that can be done with any food processor – commercial varieties now have sugar and salt added to them, as well as more shelf-stable fats, such as shortening. Homemade peanut butter is easy, fresh-tasting, requires only a few minutes of prep time, and it’s clean – you control exactly what goes into it. Once you get the hang of it, try whirling in your own additions.
A New Twist on Nutella: Homemade Peanutella
Why should hazelnuts get all the attention? Peanut butter and chocolate is a classic combo, and it’s utterly simple to make a spread just like Nutella using the jarred peanut butter and chocolate chips in your cupboard. This smooth, creamy chocolate-peanut butter spread is like a peanut butter cup you can spread on toast. We plowed through a batch, and have plans to mix up more to fill jars and give as holiday gifts – far less fussy than homemade candies and other confections, and very well received.

The King of Peanut Butter Lovers: Elvis Presley
November is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month and the King of Rock n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, has got to be the most legendary peanut butter lover!
According to Elvis’ favorite hangout, The Arcade Restaurant in Memphis, TN, The Elvis Special is a creamy peanut butter and sliced banana sandwich on white bread, pan fried in butter and served with a side of fries.
However, there are several accounts of Elvis’ mother, Gladys Presley, making fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches with the addition of crisp bacon and honey. Talk about a sandwich fit for The King!
Watch The Elvis and celebrate The King of Peanut Butter Sandwiches all November long…
The Elvis sandwich is just one of the great foods named after people!

The Butch Bakery Cookbook: Giveaway
When I first opened a copy of The Butch Bakery Cookbook just released by Wiley… my initial thought was “whoa.” This is definitely not your conventional cookbook about baking. If you’re looking for pretty cupcakes with little sprinkles for kids, look elsewhere. This isn’t your mother’s cupcake cookbook and it’s far from conventional or traditional. It’s loaded with recipes for grown-ups with interesting and intense adult flavors. Can you say “Mojito cupcake?” Or… how about a “Rum and Coke cupcake” …or “Root Beer Float” cupcake anyone? The timing of this book couldn’t be better. Combinations like chocolate and bacon in Tee and Cakes famous cupcakes or chiles with chocolate have been growing in popularity. What we once thought were crazy combinations are usually accepted and loved once we give them a chance. However, David takes his creations a step further.
Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Bites
I may be in the minority when I say this, but, chocolate is not a weakness of mine. I usually prefer to opt for a bowl of salt & vinegar chips or crispy french fries before anything chocolate. Chocolate and peanut butter, on the other hand, makes me stop in my tracks. Something about the pairing…sweet, rich chocolate teamed up with creamy, slightly salty peanut butter…it’s just a match made in heaven in my opinion.
These little Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Bites are the perfect sweet to treat yourself with after dinner…with a tall glass of milk of course.
