I briefly contemplated a few of my favorites like White Chocolate Macadamia Nut and the nearly legendary Holiday Disco Cookie. But when it came down to a cookie that really explains my personality, I had to go with the Sugar Cookie. And no. It’s not because I’m so sweet.

I rarely, if ever, prepare a separate meal for my children. That being said, Panang curry is not often on the menu. I try to come up with simple recipes that will satisfy all of us and that I can easily finish with an adult twist . I love making this homemade cheese sauce that can be mixed with any shape pasta. It’s almost as simple as opening a box and far more delicious and nutritious. I also sneak in an egg or two to boost protein.

This is an experiment in extra, extra comfort. I think adults and kids can agree that Mac N Cheese is pretty much the ultimate comfort food. Well, when the ultimate comfort food can make itself, it’s extra, extra comforting. This test kitchen request comes from long-time viewer, Erin B, for Monday nights when her kids’ swim practice cuts in to dinner-making time. When summer gets hot, I can’t get enough fresh fruit – the juicier the better – anything that promises to trickle down my chin. To fancy it up I often make shortcakes or pies, but recently came across the most utterly simple way to prepare fresh fruit – brûléed with lime and turbinado sugar to showcase its flavor and sweetness. My six year old adores mangoes, so we almost always have some in the fruit bowl – I imagine this technique would work as well with fresh peaches or nectarines, too. I can’t think of a faster, more refreshing summertime dessert.
