Kitchen Beauty: How to use coconut oil to smooth flyaways and to condition your hair, making it feel thick, shiny and soft.

It’s winter. Heaters are on. The air outside is cold and dry, and inside it’s hot and dry. This can do wonders on your hair, and suddenly flyaways are at an all time high. I used to slather my hair in oil-based products sold for this purpose, but really, what was I gaining?

Sure, they might help with flyaways at the beginning of the day, but by midday they were back, and extra product just made the hair greasy. Additionally, the problem never seemed to get any better. The next morning the flyaways always returned.

Now, rather than fretting in the bathroom in the morning, I can rub a small bit of oil from the kitchen on to help tame flyaways and keep my hair healthy and feeling great. Coconut oil, of course.

Coconut Oil Hair Care
See all those flyaways? Coconut oil can help. There isn't really a trick to it. Just take a small, pea-sized amount in your palm, rub it through your fingertips and then smooth through hair. Flyaways be damned.
Why Coconut oil? Shampooing strips your hair of its natural oils. Coconut oil replenishes those vital oils and leaves your hair feeling thick and shiny. It makes sense to then use it to control flyaways, but you can also use it as a hot oil treatment once a week. Just heat so that it is liquid, rub into scalp, wrap hair and leave on for at least an hour before rinsing out. Easy. One-ingredient.

Genius!! One more use for this amazing oil. I will go broke keeping it in my kitchen, but it will be money well spent.
