Almond Joy Homemade Almond Joy Bars

I have no grand plans to make tons of homemade candy for Halloween. That would be nuts! But I’ve been experimenting with the idea of homemade candy and have been having a blast. The first thing I made last week was a small batch of Homemade Almond Joy Bars. Of course, you can also just omit the almond and enjoy your homemade Mounds Bar instead. I tried a few different methods of making them and this was the most simple and direct. The coconut holds together well and I chilled them in the fridge before dipping them in chocolate, a lot like I do with cake pops. I hope you enjoy these sweet little nuggets as much as we did!

Homemade Almond Joy Bars

3 ounces sweetened condensed milk

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, very soft

1 cup powdered sugar

8 ounces sweetened coconut

Almonds

8 ounces semisweet chocolate

1. Combine the milk, butter, sugar and coconut in a bowl and mix well.

2. Pat the coconut into a 9×9 dish and place the dish in the fridge and chill until firm.

3. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate in the microwave and stir until smooth. Cut the coconut bars into 2-inch pieces and place one or two almonds on top. Dip the bars individually into the chocolate and place them on cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Chill the bars again until the chocolate is set. Enjoy!
