Chocolate Chip Cookie Dunkers
My niece was over recently, helping me make chocolate chip cookies. It’s her favourite thing to do as we hang out in the kitchen and chat. We decided to bake them on sticks – it’s easy to do using store-bought popsicle or lollipop sticks from the craft store. This is something I often do for parties and events – cookies on a stick make everyone happy – but we discovered something else they’re perfect for: dunking in milk.
To make them, scoop even spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet and insert a paper or wooden stick about half an inch into each cookie, ensuring the stick itself doesn’t get in the way of another spreading cookie. Bake as usual.
They’re perfect, of course for dunking – into hot chocolate, or chocolate milk.. anything you’re inclined to dunk a chocolate chip cookie in. The stick makes it easy, as does their smallish size – there’s no struggle to get it to fit into the glass.
Can you think of a better after-school snack?
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dunkers
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chocolate chipspopsicle or lollipop sticks
Preheat your oven to 350F.
In a medium bowl, beat the butter and sugars until pale and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until combined. Add the flour, baking soda and salt and beat just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop dough by even spoonfuls onto a parchment lined baking sheet and insert a stick about half an inch into each ball of dough. Ensure each stick is directed away from the area where other cookies will spread.
Bake for 12 – 15 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
