Candy Corn Cake in a Jar
It simply wouldn’t be the holidays without a themed cake in a jar around here! When I was thinking of a few ideas for Halloween this is the first thing that came to mind. Who doesn’t love the idea of candy corn cake! Since it is hard to get cake batter to layer perfectly I baked the cakes separately first and then stacked the baked cake in the jars topped with a dollop of frosting and some candy corn candy. Delish and festive, this is here to stay. Stay tuned for more fun Halloween cakes in a jar soon!
Candy Corn Cake in a Jar
1 box white cake mix
Orange & Yellow Food Paste
1 batch vanilla buttercream frosting
1. Prepare the cake according to package directions. Divide the batter between two bowls and add some yellow food paste to one bowl and orange food paste to the other.
2. Bake the cake in separate 8 inch round cake pans and allow to cool completely.
3. Use the jar lids to cut out circles in each cake and place the cake in a rounds into the jars and top each with a dollop of frosting. There should be enough cake to fill 4 jars with two rounds of each color. Enjoy!

Anna commented on Oct 04 11 at 9:19 pmStart your kids with creative activities at an early age. This is what I always remember after reading tons of parenting books before I gave birth to my little girl. And what better way to be creative? Cooking/Baking!
Simple recipes and procedures, yet we can come up with beautiful treats! And more, we can recite and review all the colors that she has to master. Fun, enjoyable and delicious. Thanks for making moms like me happier! I love your blog!
Sheila Shook commented on Oct 04 11 at 9:57 pmCan these cakes be sealed like others?

Carla commented on Oct 05 11 at 8:55 pmthis may sound kind of “duh” but what size jars are those? they look smaller than a standard mason jar :)
Rachel @ Bakerita commented on Oct 05 11 at 11:38 pmAbsolutely adorable! Such a great idea. Wondering though – would it be possible to layer the batters and bake in the jar?
Kelsey/TheNaptimeChef commented on Oct 06 11 at 10:43 amhi! @Sheila, it can be sealed but I’ve never tried it. Thanks @Laura. @Carla, these are a standard 8 ounce Mason jar. @Rachel, I tried layering the batters but they don’t stay even, it looks more like a tie-dye cake. It looks cool that way, though!
