Baked Tortilla Chips

16 corn tortillas, cut into 4 equal triangles
1/4 cup olive oil
salt
lime

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place 1/4 of the tortillas in a large bowl. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and gently turn the triangles with your hands to coat. Arrange so that none are overlapping on a baking sheet. Bake for 8 – 12 minutes, until the chips are puffed up and have just started to color. Flip and bake for 8 minutes more. Remove finished chips to a bowl, sprinkle with salt, and finish with a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Serve immediately.

But summer’s not over yet, so this is a perfect time to enjoy cooking up fresh summer produce. Enter roast tomato salsa with baked tortilla chips. Roasting the tomatoes brings out a depth of flavor and the slightest sweetness, and with fresh jalapeno and peach thrown in, this salsa has smoky, slightly sweet flavor. Roast tomato salsa is the perfect pairing with these light and crispy baked tortilla chips. [...]

When making these chips I looked at the ingredients where it calls for 1/4 cup of olive oil.. then in the directions calls for 1 tablespoon- which is a BIG difference.. I used the 1/4 cup to cover my chips and they ended up all burning up to brown crisps in the oven.. This needs to be changed in the recipe.

Hi Kara, The recipe is meant for you to bake the chips in 4 batches, with each batch getting 1 tablespoon of oil. Thanks for sharing your experience–I’ll update the recipe to make it more clear.
