My Favorite Costco Buys

I’m a fan of Costco for so many reasons. The prices are great, the meat, dairy and produce are fresh and there are items there that you just can’t get anywhere else for the same value. My trips to Costco aren’t as frequent as they could be due to its location from my house…and that’s probably a good thing considering I spend a fortune everytime I’m there…for all things I need of course!  Over the years I’ve gotten attached to a few products that Costco sells and my trips to Costco pretty much revolve around when I run out of those items.

Here’s a list of my regular and favorite buys at Costco:

Dog Food – I love the Kirkland brand, not just because of the price but because the first ingredient is usually chicken or beef, then a vegetable.
Pure Maple Syrup – you just can’t beat the price and size if you like pure maple syrup
Quinoa
Quaker Old Fashioned Oats – yes it’s a big box, but if you like oats like my family does you’ll get through it.
Wine – such a great selection of wines, and again, great price.
Cheese – the Parmesan Reggiano is a great price at Costco, I savor it and grate it on my pastas and soups for extra special flavor. I also like to purchase fresh mozzarella, feta and goat cheese as well.
Spices – whole peppercorns, saigon cinnamon, chili powder…these are the spices I use the most and go through them enough to justify buying a larger size.
Vanilla
Organic Peanut Butter or Almond Butter
Nuts – I always stock up on Kirkland brand raw almonds, pecans and walnuts. Store them in the freezer to maintain freshness.
Snacks – I love the big barrels of Snyders Pretzels and Organic Vanilla Animal Crackers
Organic Meats
Frozen Foods – Morningstar Black Bean Burgers, Simmons Chicken Tenderloins and Frozen Shrimp all come in handy for quick meals.
Breads – Sandwich Thins and Flat Outs freeze very well and are great to have on hand.
Produce – I never leave Costco without a bag of red bell peppers, berries, cucumbers or mandarin oranges.

And let’s not forget to mention the Books and Electronics (I purchased a treadmill and my Canon Rebel at Costco).

So now tell me…what are your favorite buys at Costco?

I just got a Costco membership this past weekend so this is extremely helpful. We were so overwhelmed! Can’t wait to go back and take advantage of your list.

I don’t go to Cosco, we go to Sam’s, and my only must is gas for the car.

Olive oil!

Real cooked crumbled bacon I keep in the freezer. Great for garnishing salads, potatoes or toss in a pasta. Lasts a long time cuz I’m stingy with it.

Same things, Aggie, but add Decaf Coffee!

Toilet tissue, paper towels, and laundry soap. Just knowing I have oodles of those items in the house gives me a warm, happy feeling. Don’t know why.

Milk, salads, fruits are great, olive oil, nuts, frozen veggies are some of my fav buys.

I’m a big fan of their Kirkland brand organic non fat milk and the local vendors they partner with (Oakdell Farm Omega-3 eggs and Grandma’s sprouted wheat bread for my area.) And I never leave without the cherry tomatoes that are sweeter than candy and the mini cucumbers. If you only shop for the same core items and don’t get swayed by all the other “stuff” it’s totally a budget saver.

Craisins – about the same cost as a small bag at the grocery store. Hormel precooked bacon in the freezer section. Fresh ravioli. LaBrea breads. Roast chickens. Frozen chicken breasts.

I wish we had a Costco where I live. But when I visit family in Orlando and South FL I always go to Costco. My last visit I bought Vanilla Extract, 2 big bags of Kettle Brand Potato Chips, a book and a cozy blanket that my dogs have taken over.

They have this wonderful stuffed chicken sausage. Love the roasted red pepper and spinach stuffed variety. And the chicken makes it a tad more on the healthier side. I also pick up my large pack of Chobani there too. They also make a seafood stuffed mushroom dinner that you just pop in the oven. …Allegedly I hugged an entire pallet of giant chocolate chip bags…allegedly…

@J.Davis…I can’t believe I forgot to mention the sausages! I buy the Aidell’s and another brand chicken sausages every time I go there! I use them all the time!

I have to start getting my Chobani there! Now that my kids like them it’s becoming an expensive habit :)

Have got to look for that seafood mushroom dinner….
