Easy Blackberry Lemonade
There is just something about lemonade that screams summer. We make a gazillion variations of lemonade each summer depending on what we have on hand. Thanks to our CSA we have wonderful fresh NC berries being delivered to us on a weekly basis. This week the blackberries were particularly beautiful and I knew they’d pair perfectly with our homemade lemonade. Once you have the basic recipe down the variations are fairly limitless. You could even turn these into a “mommy and daddy lemonade” by adding a little rum ; )
Blackberry Lemonade
What you’ll need:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/4 cup blackberries + additional to garnish
1 sprig fresh mint
1 cup fresh lemon juice
4 cups water
ice
1 lemon – sliced
What to do:
1. Into a sauce pan add sugar and 1 cup water. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until sugar has dissolved. Add blackberries and mint. Using a muddler, or wooden spoon, muddle {mash} the blackberries.
2. Add lemon juice and remaining water. Stir to combine.
3. Transfer lemonade to a pitcher. Add lemon slices and additional blackberries.
4. Serve over ice
