Rainbow Doodle Birthday Cake

Have you ever seen a more adorable cake? Leave it up to Rosie from Sweetapolita to come up with this genius idea for her daughter’s {who yes you guessed it couldn’t be any cuter if she tried either} birthday cake. It starts with layers upon layers of bright and gorgeous rainbow colored cakes.

It’s then covered with fondant and decorated with FOOD DECORATOR PENS by the birthday girl herself! Just genius. What a special special cake that any little boy or girl would love to have for their birthday!
To see how to make your very own RAINBOW DOODLE BIRTHDAY CAKE pop on over to SWEETAPOLITA
Be prepared to stay awhile, I don’t think Rosie has made anything I haven’t adored. I have some serious baking and decorating envy, and I’m pretty sure you will too ; )

scanpennett commented on Apr 28 11 at 2:51 pmHmmm. With all the issues surrounding artificial food dye I don’t think many parents would attempt this cake. I’d try it using natural dyes but, the flavors don’t work so well with cake/icing.
Lauren commented on Apr 29 11 at 3:20 amI really like the idea of writing on the cake with the edible ink pens. This could be great for an adults surprise birthday party. The guests could write on the cake before the birthday girl/boy arrived :D
AMANDA commented on Mar 14 12 at 4:22 pmThis would be a great idea for a graduation party too. You know how people always have their friends autograph things their senior year, you could have your son or daughter’s friends autograph their cake before you bring it out to cut! :)
crystal commented on Mar 14 12 at 4:24 pmI wish I had the recipie to make this
Neasha commented on Mar 14 12 at 6:28 pmI’m sure its not that hard, yellow cake made the usual way with food coloring added to the layers, except yellow wit a vanilla icing in between the layers and outside cover wit fondant and decorate not that hard……i’ve made it for a whole different type of event but an event nun the less
kim commented on Mar 15 12 at 10:05 amI wonder if you could add jello mix to get the different colors. Might taste good too!
