Spicy Spicy Fried Chicken Tenders

Everybody’s got Spicy Chicken everything nowadays. All the fast food restaurants are catching onto the concept that people love their chicken, and they love it hot. So, what’s keeping you from making your own batch of incredibly moist spicy fried chicken? Nothing, now that you’ve got the secret spice mix! After weeks of trial and error, dozens (hundreds! thousands!) of chicken strips taste testing, and three good jogs around the block, I’m ready to let you in on the ultimate spicy chicken recipe. If you like Chick-fil-A’s new Spicy Chicken Sandwich, you’re going to love making a tastes-just-like-it version right at home!

Spicy Fried Chicken Tenders
1 pound chicken tenders (or chicken breasts cut into strips)
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup flour
1 egg
1/2 cup millk
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon red pepper (add more if you want them really spicy)
1 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
3 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1 tablespoon sugar
Oil for frying

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a small bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, onion powder, red pepper, chili powder, paprika, and celery salt. Stir together until well mixed. In a second bowl, whisk together egg and milk.

Tip 2 tablespoons of the egg mixture into the flour mixture and use a fork to mix it together, creating little lumps of dough. Soad your chicken breast tenders into the egg mixture, dredge them through the flour mixture, toss them back into the egg mixture, then pop them once more into your flour mixture.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat on your stovetop. Fry the chicken strips in the hot oil until crispy and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Place on a paper towel to sap some of the oil from the chicken before serving.

There is an error — it says to preheat the oven and then it tells you to fry the chicken.
