Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution

Posted by julievr on April 13th, 2011 at 2:29 am

As described on his own website, Jamie’s Food Revolution combines the ambitions of both Jamie’s Ministry of Food and Jamie’s School Dinners and exists to tackle the obesity epidemic in America. The campaign seeks to educate people about food and cooking, address the quality of the food served in school lunch halls and inspire food retailers to provide good quality, fresh, local food to their customers.

The second season of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution premiered on Tuesday night on ABC. Last season he famously tackled the poor eating habits of Huntington, West Virgina; this season he’s going back up against the issue of food in schools, inviting viewers to take a stand and change the way they eat – both at home and at school.

In the premiere of season 2, Jamie arrives in Los Angeles with his wife and four children to help inspire kids and their families to eat better. His mobile kitchen provides those struggling with fast food diets with the encouragement and support they need to combat unhealthy eating habits by learning to cook real food from scratch, quickly and inexpensively. Of course, he has run into some resistance.

Want to get involved? You can do it here. Sign the petition. Start a campaign. Follow the Revolution on Twitter. Or just try some great recipes. (Make them with your kids!)
