Nutella Mug Cake

mug cake Nutella Mug Cake

I have been experimenting with different mug cakes every since I heard about them about a year ago. None of them have been winners. They were either too chewy, too dry, or not sweet enough. Well, I continued experimenting, and thought why not add some decadent Nutella into the mix. I modified the classic mug cake recipe, added Nutella, and a little more milk and oil than I had been using before. The results were beyond amazing. Finally, chocolate mug cake perfection, with a hint of Nutella flavor. This mug cake maybe a little high in fat, but it is the perfect decadence to help fulfill a chocolate craving after dinner. And the best thing about this dessert is that it’s quick and easy, and you can have it ready in under 5 minutes, start to finish.

I made these quick desserts today for my father and sister-in-law. They were the perfect thing to make for unexpected company. Thanks to my sister-in-law for posing as my hand model today showing off the ooey gooey goodness of the mug cake. She has beautiful, youthful hands, and the steadiness of a surgeon so I could get the perfect shot. If only she was around all the time. Sigh.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons self rising flour
4 tablespoons white granulated sugar
1 egg
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 tablespoons Nutella
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil

Method

1. Combine all ingredients in a large coffee mug. Whisk well with a fork until smooth. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 – 3 minutes. (Time depends on microwave wattage. Mine took 1 /2 minutes.) Top with whipped cream and a little chocolate sauce if desired.

2. Top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Enjoy!

Note: Depending on the wattage of your microwave, you may have to increase cooking time.

Makes 1 very large serving.

I had seen recipes for chocolate mug cake before, but this is brilliant!

JulieVR commented on Mar 15 11 at 7:26 pm

I’ve been seeing a lot of recipe fro mug cakes around but never one with Nutella in it. I love the idea of having cake anytime I want in 5 minutes time.

Sylvie @ Gourmande in the Kitchen commented on Mar 15 11 at 7:30 pm

This sounded amazing so I had to make right away! I don’t know what I did wrong but my mug cakes did not cook through…any suggestions?

Lorie commented on Mar 15 11 at 9:07 pm

Thank you guys for the recipe the cake was amazing. Thanks to you all the people who will try this will uber fat

Rose B. commented on Mar 15 11 at 9:24 pm

Your microwave wattage is not as strong as mine is, just cook for longer, but the cake is suppose to be moist.

Angie McGowan commented on Mar 15 11 at 9:33 pm

soooo im kinda a noob to the world of fine dining and so my question is, when you say cocoa powder do you mean some fancy stuff or can you use just plain ole swiss miss from the packets?

samie commented on Mar 15 11 at 10:10 pm

The cocoa powder that is in the baking section of the grocery store, not swiss miss :)

Angie McGowan commented on Mar 15 11 at 11:00 pm

Hello,

I don’t like microwaves at all and therefore don’t have one. Yet this recipe looks too good to ignore! I have ovenproof mugs, can I make this in an oven? And if I can, any predictions as to how long I should bake in the oven?

Layla commented on Mar 16 11 at 2:32 am

I have not used a conventional oven for this recipe, but I am guessing about 20 minutes.

Angie McGowan commented on Mar 16 11 at 8:37 am

They were delicious! I would highly recommend them as a quick, sweet treat. Thanks for the kudos, Angie!

Sabrina McGowan commented on Mar 16 11 at 11:06 am

would this cook in an oven?

vedette commented on Mar 16 11 at 11:16 am

I haven’t done it, but would think around 20 minutes might work, let us know if you try!

Angie McGowan commented on Mar 16 11 at 12:26 pm

I just made chocolate mug cakes the night before you posted this! Now I have to do it again with Nutella. Such hardship! LOL!

RJ Flamingo commented on Mar 16 11 at 4:05 pm

This sounds amazing! Does the cake have to be hot? I was thinking of making some for my drama class as a treat for them, and it would be hard to make 20 or so in the teacher’s lounge. especially since I’m a student not a teacher.

Brandi commented on Mar 17 11 at 1:45 am

Equally delish hot or cold! Just make sure if making to take somewhere, you make sure on the time and your microwave, to make sure they are cooked well, but they are gooey!

Angie McGowan commented on Mar 17 11 at 9:53 am

I followed the recipe to the T and it ended up having a TON of oil on top. I tried to cook it longer but ended up having to “dump” off the oil before we dug into it. Did anyone else have this problem? It was tasty though…brownie like.

Monica commented on Mar 17 11 at 8:56 pm

mine turned into a giant brownie monster and made a mess in my microwave.

that did not stop me from eating it. A+ recipe would do again.

We used tall glass mugs and they turned into nutella volcanos!!

Wendy commented on Mar 19 11 at 12:35 am

This looks incredible. But it should be mentioned, this recipe (seemingly for a single person) contains 1100 calories as written. That is an absurd amount to be consuming, decadent or not.

Winston Smith commented on Mar 19 11 at 2:59 am

I made something similar, I cited you as a source and I used peanut butter in place of Nutella.

Just made this… it was so delicious! But you can’t eat all of it by yourself. We split 1 2/3 mugs around 5 people.

Emily commented on Mar 19 11 at 7:11 pm

These are the best Cake in a Mug I have ever made…. I didn’t have Nutella so I substituted chocolate syrup!! Oh and I didn’t have self rising flower so I made my own!! 1 cup flour, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 1/2 tsp baking powder!! YUMMY…

Oh I also topped mine with about 1 tbs of chocolate chips and a dollop of marshmallow creme

Meg Beachler commented on Mar 19 11 at 8:11 pm

I made this yesterday. So good. I would recommend spraying whatever you cook it in though. I cooked it for 2 minutes. Watch it, after 30 seconds it was about to overflow, so I stopped it and kept stopping it when it almost overflowed.

ashley commented on Mar 19 11 at 11:50 pm

what type of sugar should I use?? and yeah how fattening is this? more so than a regular slice of cake or brownie? thanks :)

veda commented on Mar 20 11 at 5:29 am

can i use any type of oil?

visitor commented on Mar 20 11 at 7:52 am

What a decadent dessert! I love that it’s served in a mug. Just makes you feel all warm and cozy.

Brian @ A Thought For Food commented on Mar 21 11 at 11:33 am

this was really good! my sister and i split it into two mugs and it overflowed in the microwave (one minute in the mw) but it was still a really tasty treat!

cass commented on Mar 21 11 at 1:52 pm

How many does this make? It seems quite excessive that it is 1000 cals each. Has put me off somewhat!

Amy commented on Mar 21 11 at 3:31 pm

Will you people stop with the calorie thing??? Its CAKE, people! No one says you HAVE to eat it, and no one said it was a “diet cake”……..

Joonifer commented on Mar 22 11 at 1:13 pm

To the people counting calories and fat: You shouldn’t even be looking at this thread if you are worried! Just make the cake and enjoy. There are more things in life to worry about than what 1 mug of cake will do to your body!

Brady commented on Mar 22 11 at 1:31 pm

just wondering if the people that made this and it over flowed, did you use a “large” mug like the recipe tells you? i made this last night, topped with whipped cream, pecans and drizzed some caramel. MMMMMM……..

sammie commented on Mar 22 11 at 1:31 pm

This looks so tasty!!! However, am a bit put off by the name, because ‘mug’ means mold in my native Norwegian…mold cake… ha ha! Other than that, I am sold!

Vibeke commented on Mar 22 11 at 2:03 pm

I just made this, freaking amazing, though i had no self rising flour so I used coconut flour and brown sugar but the rest is the same.

ChristopheCoffin commented on Mar 22 11 at 2:58 pm

Should the cocoa powder be sweetened or unsweetened?

Lindsay commented on Mar 22 11 at 4:49 pm

has anyone tried more than one mug at a time say 4 of 5 mugs in the microwave if so how long?

Emily commented on Mar 22 11 at 11:33 pm

wow…5 minutes for a cake? there goes my diet! ;-)

Sandi commented on Mar 23 11 at 10:00 am

Yum, it is great !

Don commented on Mar 23 11 at 2:19 pm

I analyzed the calories – it comes out at just over 850 calories. That makes it about 4 servings of dessert!

Tasted fantastic though – even though I’m now drooling like Homer Simpson…

clive commented on Mar 23 11 at 10:12 pm

I think it’s important to note the calories & fat. I like to make an educated decision. This sounds good but if I am counting cals maybe I will make a smaller serving or share, or decide to spend my calories elsewhere. I DO eat cake and decadent foods, but I may decide to have a salad for lunch if I am going to eat this.

Don’t ridicule or harass people for wanting information. I am glad this info was posted. Just like THEY don’t have to eat the cake, YOU don’t have to pay attention to their comments!

I used Swiss Miss hot cocoa mix and it turned out wonderfully.

hillary commented on Mar 26 11 at 8:24 pm

I saw this and could not wait to make it. I love chocolate, I love nutella, and I love cake. Unfortunately, it just did not deliver. The texture was off, it was a little rubbery even though it definitely did not get overcooked (it still looked wet when I took it out), it wasn’t chocolatey enough (even though I was actually worried it would be too chocolatey with the amount of nutella and cocoa powder that went in to it), and it had a floury aftertaste. Just put the extra time and effort in and make a real cake.

Lydia commented on Mar 26 11 at 10:31 pm

I had a go. I only cooked it for one and a half minutes. I don’t know what I did wrong but it was really dry. :(
It looks like it’s meant to be moist and gooey, more like a pudding? Is it? Ah, fail.

Chloe commented on Mar 29 11 at 10:15 pm

Meghin commented on Mar 31 11 at 2:33 am

Good, but I the taste of the egg was overpowering for me.

Amanda commented on Mar 31 11 at 9:16 pm

AMAZING! Glad I stumbled upon this. The first time I tried it, I made a single serving birthday cake for my mom. It’s fast & easy. I was wondering about cutting the recipe in half. That will be something.

Tamara R. commented on Mar 31 11 at 11:22 pm

I found it easier (aka less messy!) to stir the ingredients together in a bowl first, and then pour it into the mug. Delicious!!

Rosa commented on Apr 03 11 at 11:30 pm

Hi guys… I wonder why mine turned out to be hard aft a min or two when its out of the microwave. Any advise? :(

Arman commented on Apr 06 11 at 6:13 am

I only have normal-sized mugs, so I ended up having to make this in a cereal bowl. It worked, and it’s decent. But I don’t taste the nutella flavor much and there’s just way too much here for one serving. I think I enjoy mug brownies (no egg) more. As far as microwave cakes go, this one did beat my last attempt.

Cat commented on Apr 13 11 at 10:31 pm

how many milli-liters is your “large cup”?

I’m planning to make this in smaller cups, so I’d like to know how many small cups I can fill with the amount of ingrediënts for 2 large cups.

Sharon commented on Apr 14 11 at 3:55 am

I would fill 4 small cups with the amount for 2 cups… it rises a TON before it settles back and you don’t want it to overflow all over.

Justina Wuebker commented on Apr 18 11 at 12:16 pm

possibly the most chocolately thing i have ever eaten in my life haha. Used the biggest mug I had, but 60% of it overflowed. Anything I can to to prevent that? Or just use a bigger mug?

matt commented on Apr 18 11 at 6:53 pm

Amazing! I had been mulling over what to do with the last bit of nutella in the jar and this was brilliant.

It wasn’t overly sweet and had a slight bitter note from the cocoa. It is the perfect mug cake (even if I did overcook mine).

Patricia commented on Apr 19 11 at 10:37 pm

I just made this (am eating it right now) and it is really quite delicious! I cooked it for an extra 30sec because I thought it looked a little too moist still (even though it is supposed to be moist), and it is moist yet fluffy… I put it togetherin my largest mug, which probably holds around 1 3/4 cups. As I was mixing it I thought it looked like too much for the mug, so transferred about 4T to a ramekin, and cooked them both in the microwave. So now I have 2!! Perfect. Thanks for the recipe!

Moti commented on Apr 20 11 at 6:48 am

Does anyone know what is the mug-size to batter-amount ratio so that it won’t overflow?? Thanks!

Andy commented on Apr 24 11 at 1:16 pm

delicious! not all of the batter in my mug cooked, so i’ll have to rethink the cooking time, but other than that, a perfect quick sugar hit for when i’m studing! thankyou!

rosie commented on May 06 11 at 10:52 pm

This was great! I have one of those large mugs that could be used for a soup bowl as well. The batter only filled my cup half way, so I didn’t have any overflow while cooking. I’m only eating half of it. I’ll eat the rest tomorrow night once the munchkin goes to sleep :)

Marissa commented on May 20 11 at 11:04 pm

Just made this. It was tres delicious, though yes, it made a HUGE mess in the microwave. Alas, the plate was clean though so I just ate the spilled cake off of it :) I definitely recommend using the biggest mug you can find. Or at least giving your microwave plate a good cleaning before so you can enjoy without the thought of freaky germs.

Raychel commented on May 27 11 at 9:55 pm

I don’t usually comment on blog recipes, but I was pleasantly surprised with this. I was really skeptical at the thought of making cake in the microwave, but it was amazing. I could tell my mugs weren’t big enough just by looking at the recipe, but the ones in the picture are about the same size as mine.. I didn’t chance it, though, as I made it in a cereal bowl, and it nearly overflowed!

The flavour isn’t very nutella-y, just very chocolatey due to the cocoa content, but I can’t complain, as it went perfectly with a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Next time I will split the recipe between two mugs, I think it would fit perfectly. Also, a quick note that I didn’t have any self raising flour in the cupboard, nor did I have baking powder, so I tossed in 1/4 tsp baking soda and it was fine.

Emily commented on Jun 04 11 at 8:03 am

For the health conscious I found a healthier version that uses applesauce, egg whites and splenda to reduce cals & fat: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=414403

I am about to try the real recipe though with a splash of vanilla. Will post back if it’s good :-) though my silence may be laziness coz I’m full of cake :-)

Mal commented on Jun 14 11 at 10:42 am

Made it and it was fantastic! The hazelnut spread makes a difference… I made the normal recipe the other night that was nowhere as good (I chucked out half).

I made up the mix in a big noodle bowl and split between 4 ramkins. Good size treat I reckon. 2.5 mmins for a slightly under cooked cake (pudding like), 3 min for a slightly more cooked version.

Photo! http://pgu.me/wIt

Mal commented on Jun 14 11 at 1:03 pm

I bookmarked this for a long time, and when I finally had cocoa powder, I tried it. When you say a “large” serving, you lie; it’s ENORMOUS! I ate half (well, almost) and didn’t have the stomach to finish the rest. I am saving it for later.

Overall, pretty darn good! & milk goes great with it. So much chocolate! (Although this might be because I did not have whipped cream and topped it with more Nutella.)

Thanks for the recipe. I will definitely be making this again, but maybe as 2-4 servings instead…

Leanne commented on Jun 14 11 at 3:42 pm

I just tried this and its awesome!!
I dint have nutella so I substituted it with a little bit of hersheys chocolate syrup and it was yummm!! :D

Tara commented on Jun 22 11 at 9:39 am

I just thought I’d let you know that I went to a very nice restaurant a few days ago (it was so fancy and delicious!), and I bought the chocolate souffle for dessert, and it tasted almost EXACTLY like this mug cake! The texture was the same and everything! The only difference was that the souffle tasted like it was made with dark chocolate and not nutella, but it was mindboggling that a chocolate souffle at a fancy-shmancy restaurant that took half an hour to make tasted almost just like a mug cake that you just pop in the microwave for a minute and a half! Amazing!

Ally Samaniego commented on Jul 01 11 at 2:19 pm

Yumm! Fantastic. I made mine with only 1 Tbsp of oil and still turned out awesome. For those finding they have a ‘tough’ cake, it’s possible the batter was overmixed. I will definitely make this to serve to friends, and similar to other posters, will split into 4 servings in little ramekins. I think this would be quite elegant served with ice cream, raspberries & mint leaves. This was the best discovery of the week!

Heather commented on Aug 07 11 at 12:53 pm

Just made this after seeing it on tumblr! Turned out amazing, and so fast an easy to make!! Definite hit in my house!

Maria commented on Aug 10 11 at 10:51 am

Just made this. SO impressed with the cakeyness of it! I used the amounts stated (apart from reducing the sugar slightly and upping the cocoa a little) in a large jug, then divided it between three ramekins and nuked for 1.5 mins. No overspill, no mess. (Wipe round the mug/ramekin with some of the oil you use, and you could even turn it out!) A big hit with everyone here. Made with a baby on one hip and a 3 yo at my ankles, so it’s a handy one to be able to do at the moment!

this is the best cake I’ve eaten for a while. in my microwave it took 2 mins to have it cooked well. it’s more like a souffle than a basic cake. i wouldn’t think nutella would give such effect. it’s really so much for one person. i would say 4 people would eat this amount. i definitely adored it!

yagmurb commented on Sep 02 11 at 5:01 pm

I made this last week but for some reason the oil didn’t mix in with the rest of the ingredients. I had to microwave it for 6 minutes and instead of having a moist cake, I had a mug of hot, oily mush.

Clearly, something went wrong. Only, I’m not exactly sure what it was.

Delicious! I tried it too: http://dark3y3s.blogspot.com/2011/11/nutella-mug-cake.html :)) Not the most beautiful cake ever, but certainly one of the tastiest!

I suggest adding morello-cherries in it :)

Deea commented on Nov 04 11 at 7:27 pm

Doesn’t get much easier, or tastier… Olive oil left some smell – faint, but made me wonder about using nut oil next time.

Totally unexpected that cake came from runny stuff in so few seconds!

I dusted the top with cayenne pepper for a spicy touch.

Ground Corriander seeds is a great flavour to add to this sort of thing too – I’ll try that next time.

My sister showed me this recipe, she told me to add an extra tablespoon of nutella and split the batch into 2 mugs. I microwaved it for 1-1:15min and it turned out amazingly chocolatey, moist and yummy.

Vanessa commented on Nov 05 11 at 4:27 pm

looks nice, when me try I can’t stop pouring chocolate syrup though.

chubby commented on Nov 07 11 at 11:23 pm

Just made this–DELICIOUS!

Literally took 3 minutes total. Used demerara sugar and didn’t have nutella, but what a fantastic dessert.

Andy commented on Nov 10 11 at 7:02 pm

added a sprinkle of cinnamon to this SO GOOD!

bianca commented on Nov 13 11 at 4:11 pm

microwaved for 1 1/2 min, had A LOT of oil/ liquid at the top, cooked it some more, still had a lot of oil, drained the oil, then cooked some MORE, burnt it. has a very strange texture, tastes ok. im sure it’s cuz I burnt it though

me commented on Nov 13 11 at 7:01 pm

I don’t have any nutella on me right now but I’m craving this so can I dump in some semi-sweet chocolate chips instead? Is that an appropriate substitute?

Bri commented on Nov 14 11 at 12:54 pm

I just tried this and WOW it was good!!!
I split the recipe into two mugs and nuked it for 2 minutes. Unfortunately mine overcooked so next time I will try 1.5 minutes.

To anyone planning to make these, I would strongly suggest keeping an eye on it while it cooks as my mug was only half full and yet still came close to overflowing (I had to stop the microwave to let it sink).

Corinne commented on Nov 16 11 at 10:36 am

ohhmygoodness! this was absolutely amazing! I made it for my sister who has strep throat and a craving for cake, but I snuck a few bites before giving it to her. I will definitely keep a jar of nutella in my pantry just for this! <3

self rising flour is flour that contains baking powder and salt. It’s widely available in the U.S, located beside the regular flour.

Angie McGowan commented on Nov 30 11 at 2:30 pm

I’ve thought I’ve seen every kind of cake but this is a new one for me. It’s a great idea if you’re ever in need of cake and only have a microwave. Amazing idea. I love it! Thank you.

Samantha commented on Nov 30 11 at 6:21 pm

This is aboslutely mouth watering! Never hear of mug cakes! Will definetely try it ou!

Anji commented on Dec 01 11 at 9:59 am

I finally got around to making this for the kids today after a friend sent me this link ages ago. I’m very impressed! I’ve only made one mug cake before, and it was horrible – rubbery and totally inedible. This actually turned out looking and tasting like a proper cake! What a great idea for kids or for unexpected guests…or even expected guests. So simple and very tasty.

Just a couple of things I would note:
-I have huge mugs (i.e. 1 1/2 cup capacity) and there’s no way this recipe would fit into one of them. I made this in a small Pyrex bowl, which worked very well.
-As per the first point, I cannot imagine eating this whole thing by myself. And I can eat a lot of cake. A LOT. This is two very generous servings, although I would say it could easily serve three (especially if you add whipped cream or ice cream etc.)
-Don’t overcook it or it will go very dry. Keep an eye on it, and you can even take it out to give it a little poke to see if it’s cooked. It should come out looking a little “fudgy” on top, like a brownie.
-It doesn’t have a very strong Nutella flavour, IMO. It doesn’t stop this cake from being delicious, though. ;)

Instead of 1 egg I used 1 tbs egg beaters. Worked perfectly.

OK sooo i have a kind of difficult question what is self rising flour and can i make it gluten free

Katt commented on Dec 14 11 at 11:00 pm

This was super dry needed more oil, more nutella and less cocoa. i tried it with biscoff spread and it was good too.

Whitney commented on Dec 15 11 at 9:24 pm

Not bad! I used one of those extra tall mugs, though it is narrow so perhaps it wasn’t my BIGGEST mug. It overflowed a drip, but nothing to get excited about. The proof was in the tasting, though: I have been seriously underwhelmed by mug cakes in the past, and I had my doubts. It’s still almost too hot to eat, but the few bites I’ve had are pretty darn good. I’m going to spray some schlagg on it and drizzle a little hershey syrup over that, and…breakfast is served! (Just kidding. Sort of.)

Um, do you think your print button could NOT have all of the comments print too? Kind of a tree-killer way to do things…

Great cake! I made it for my boyfriend’s birthday as a nice little treat for him that didn’t require me to go out and purchase anything since we had everything in our kitchen already. Except self-rising flour but that’s simple enough to mix up yourself. It turned out really nice. Next time I’m going to add a tiny bit more Nutella (since my bf has a love affair with that stuff) and split it between little ramekins. Thanks for the quick dessert.

Found your site through Pinterest and discovered this recipe. I love Nutella and I had a bit of a sweet tooth. Threw it together real quick and topped with vanilla ice cream. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

NolanKai commented on Jan 07 12 at 7:45 pm

I just made this and it was awesome! My microwave took two minutes. It fluffs up out of the mug and then settles down when the microwave stops. Mix it well though, I had some flour at the bottom that didn’t mix in completely. Yum!

Deborah Kehoe commented on Jan 15 12 at 7:28 pm

I need a bigger mug, or make half the recipe at a time. It made a nice mess in the microwave, but the kids seemed to love it!

Nicole Blair commented on Jan 18 12 at 9:28 pm

I am certainly going to try this, but alas I have been frightened off from using the Microwave and so the short time will now be extended to 20 minutes and its still good enough for me!

Josephine commented on Jan 20 12 at 10:09 pm

I made this but realized I only had 1 T nutella left so I sub’d 2 T of creamy Bischoff spread (which is the same consistency as Nutella) and put the batter in a 5×9 shallow ramekin. I cooked it 2 1/2 minutes and it was the most amazing thing I’ve put in my mouth in a while!!! I t was totally cooked on the outsides but still tender and the center was a bit of gooey heaven. Thanks for posting this amazing recipe. I mixed the wet and dry ingredients separately then mixed together just until combined. That keeps the cake tender. Awesome.

d commented on Jan 21 12 at 8:49 pm

I have actually never heard of mug cakes before- I was deprived growing up, mostly eating cakes from boxes and awkward birthdays where my name was somehow always the messiest in the icing. This look like a devilishly sweet treat in a time of year when most people are already starting to crack from their resolutions. This looks both delicious and sinful, but lets the diner know that it’s okay to delve into some sugar every now and then. May as well do it right when you do it.

Nick Esquer commented on Jan 25 12 at 12:44 pm

So delicious, I think about it at work sometimes . . . maybe it is better if you don’t try it! It is very rich and one cup serves 2.
TIP: I had to cook it carefully in my microwave, IE when it bubbled up I stopped the microwave, let it cool and resume.

Gemmma commented on Jan 27 12 at 12:05 am

Does it have to be self-rising flour??

Tea commented on Feb 02 12 at 4:42 pm

AMAZING. I’ve never met a Nutella recipe I didn’t love. YUM!

julie @ the semi-reformed nerd commented on Feb 08 12 at 7:37 pm

I just made this about five minutes ago, but without whipped cream (currently out :\). I loved it, but I feel that it be much better with whipped cream. It’s a wonderfully rich recipe. Excllent. I’m definitely making it on valentines day! :D

To answer a couple people’s questions, I used unsweetened cocoa powder and allpurpose flour. It still has the brownie taste most people on here are describing.

Will share this, after vday. Lol. Thanks for sharing!

Heather commented on Feb 09 12 at 10:58 am

I just tried this… It wasn’t as delicious as the pictures. It tastes way too much like vegetable and or olive oil. The top of it never cooked (the insides cooked well in about 2 minutes).

Katie commented on Feb 10 12 at 6:09 pm

I’m eating this as we speak(?) and it is GOOD. It only took me a minute in my microwave but it rose up about 10cm above the rim of the mug. Had a bit of a panic and stopped the microwave. It came out really well. :)

Natalie commented on Feb 11 12 at 1:09 am

This is a great recipe! My daughter and son in law turned me onto this when they were living with me – yummy! I top mine with some homemade whipped cream and I’ve got the sweet tooth taken care of!
I made a bowl last night and divided the recipe 2/3 to 1/3, so my husband & I shared some after dinner and I took the rest to work today and nuked it for lunch, so you can refridgerate part of the mix for about 12 hours if you don’t want the extra large serving all at once! So much better than the box mixes out there and not so much going to waste!
Thanks for sharing this!
