When crafting your paper valentines, the idea is to create a sort of “berry platter” that features your dipped strawberries.
For dipping instructions: Chocolate Berry Dipping How-To
To get your Chocolate Covered Valentine craft started you’ll need a few things..
* A selection of colored paper in white, red and pink tones. Pair different paper textures too – try thin tissue paper, silky magazine pages and thick construction paper. Paper ideas: recycle old wrapping paper, leftover card envelopes, old magazines, catalogues and even junk mail!
* Glue, tape and/or stickers – Grab some traditional craft glue, tape or use heart-shaped stickers to secure your valentines.
* Scissors for cutting out those cute heart shapes. Use the classic trick of folding your paper in half and cutting a half heart shape to get a perfectly even heart cutout.
* Crayons for writing your “I Love You’s” on your paper valentines.
* Fresh Strawberries, Bananas, Cherries (or other fresh cut fruit – chocolate sticks to dry, not damp, fruit best). Buy long-stemmed berries for easy chocolate dipping. You can even skewer banana slices in popsicle sticks too. Cherries are a nice option because they have a long stem.
* Toppings (in many creative varieties) Get creative with your toppings to dip your chocolate berries in! Think seeds, nuts, cookie crumbs, dried fruit, coconut, spices and more. Some of my favorite creative and healthy toppings are: crushed graham cracker crumbs, chopped pecans, roasted pepitas, sunflower seeds, goji berries, coconut, chopped walnuts.
* Kitchen Tools for Melting the chocolate. A stove-top double broiler.
* Chocolate Chips for melting (any variety you’d like)
And that’s it! The next step is to create your Valentines so that they feature your berries. Think of them as tiny berry silver platters.

Allow your dipped berries to cool on parchment paper in the fridge while you design your paper valentines. The chocolate/toppings will harden together in the fridge.
Last step is to merge you berries with your paper cutouts and serve them to your lucky valentine!..
