Chili: Best Ever Recipes

chili mexique 300x200 Chili: Best Ever RecipesChili is a funny beast. If you’re in Texas you may live and die by the “no beans” law that chili should never have beans. Ever. Chili is actually chili con carne and refers to peppers with meat, so the no beans about it is pretty accurate in that context. Tomatoes are also not a traditional chili element, but I rarely see a recipe that isn’t swimming in some sort of tomatoes.

It’s the middle of January, and to me, that means it’s the perfect time for a chili cook-off. My husband belongs to a curling club, and they’ll be having theirs next week. As the players get ready to offer up their favorite chili recipes, here are a few of ours to spark some ideas if you’re participating in your own chili cook-off, looking for a great Super Bowl recipe or just looking to warm up on a cold winter day.

Ultimate Firehouse Chili Bowl | Spicy and hot, definitely a chili for the pepper lovers.

Steak Chili | Steak, peppers, tomatoes and beans. This chili is thick and hearty and sure to please.

Black Bean and Sweet Potato Chili | Mix it up a bit and try sweet potatoes in a vegetarian chili.

Turkey Chili | Roasted red peppers and squash meet turkey in a non-traditional chili.

White Chicken Chili | Chicken and jalapenos start out this white chili recipe, with tomatillos for thickeners and plenty of white beans.

Vegetarian Three-Bean Chipotle Chili | Wanna go meatless? Chipotle peppers and three beans make this one a spicy treat.

Lentil Slow Cooker Chili | Indian spices make this lentil chili different from the rest.

I like your steak chili recipe! Plenty of heat. Like you, I also use two different beans in my recipe, pinto and red kidney. To smooth the heat abit I add some American Honey Bourbon. Check it out if you like, http://www.easyrecipesandstuff.com.
