Black and Orange Maple Toffee Popcorn
The best part of Halloween is, of course, the treats. I love all the homemade ones, especially. And though you can’t really pass them out to trick-or-treaters, you can always serve them to your family, at a party, or better yet, eat them yourself.
When I made this toffee popcorn, it reminded me of the week my kids and I spent watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory over and over. Someone had given us a huge bag of Harry and David’s Moose Munch, and I pulled it out every time the part when Willy Wonka takes the kids went into the chocolate room. It helped to cure the massive candy cravings I got every time I saw those gorgeous trees made out of candy.

2 cups chocolate chips
Maple Toffee Popcorn (recipe follows)
Halloween sprinkles
Pour chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 second intervals, stirring after each until fully melted. Drizzle chocolate over popcorn and top with sprinkles. Refrigerate until chocolate is set. Break up into clusters.
Maple Toffee Popcorn
1 stick butter
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
8-10 cups popped popcorn (1/3 to 1/2 cup un-popped)
1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan set over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, maple syrup, and salt. Keep stirring until the mixture comes to a boil. Continue to stir, and let boil for 4 minutes.
2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour over popcorn and stir until well-coated. Spread on a baking sheet and bake for 20-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Remove from oven and serve when cool.

Have you tried maple syrup with a touch of sea salt? If not, you should!
It’s a quick way to spice up your popcorn if you don’t have time to make this batch of deliciousness!
