Nestle Toll-House Back-to-School Giveaway!
Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chips have been a favorite in households for over 50 years. Chances are, if you open any baking cabinet in America you’ll find a bright yellow bag of chocolate morsels at your fingertips. The thing about Nestle is that the bag does more than just contain chocolate, it represents family memories. Time spent together mixing batter, afternoon snacks of warm cookies from the oven, lunchboxes opening to find fresh treats from Mom. All of these moments lead back to the chocolate chips, tasty vehicles for family fun. This month Nestle is celebrating back-to-school month by giving away family fun baking packs to a few lucky winners. Each pack contains two containers of mini-morsels (one semisweet chocolate, one white chocolate), adult and child-size aprons and coupons for free Nestle Toll House morsels. I am thrilled to be giving away 2 packs today on The Family Kitchen. Click over to Shaina’s post about Nestle for two more chances to win. Here are the entry rules:

Now for cooking, you can’t beat a good old chocolate chip cookie. But when we want to make a “fancy” cookie we use Nestle’s chocolate chips melted over shortbread toffee cookie bars.

We can all get our youngsters to cook/bake with us, but trying to get a teenager to continue cooking/baking with you can be a task. My daughter (15 years old) had friends over and I prepared oatmeal banana chocolate chip pancakes(my favorite thing to make) for the girls. I was over the moon when I hear one of the girls say “Gianna, your mom is the best” and my daughter replied “You should taste the oatmeal blueberry white chocolate waffles WE make”. Nestles helps to keep my daughter and I in the kitchen TOGETHER!

It’s a layer of a stiff cookie dough, topped with a layer of chocolate chips and then topped with a layer of brown sugar meringue. Insanely good!

Corinne kurzmann commented on Oct 01 10 at 12:52 pmWe have always loved baking as a family.Having 5 sons it was never easy to get them in the kitchen (with the exception of eating) and so when I wanted some to rein in in some of the chaos, especially on a rainy day..I would break out the Tollhouse chips..We have created cookies, pancakes with faces , and one of our favorites..banan bread..Each of the boys has a mini pan and we stir up a basic recipe and the each add their “extras”..Tollhouse chips is always a first choice..along with citrus zests, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips,nuts..The boys have always taken pride in their “own” creation and enjoyed letting their brothers sample the finished loaves..

Kim commented on Oct 01 10 at 1:54 pmI love the basic Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie recipe! As far as I’m concerned, that IS the recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Even if for some reason I’m not using the chips (sometimes I splurge on Guittard), I still use the recipe off an empty yellow bag I’ve kept around for years…it’s more fun to read the recipe off the bag than to copy it in to a cookbook!

We talk about my great grandma while we bake and then they share their memories with their grandma’s with me. They get to measure everything out and at ages 3, 6 & 9 we find we always need more Nestle Tollhouse chips because they *magically* disappear from the measuring cups. The smiles, laughs and memories make baking so much fun.

Lately my favorite recipe has been Dorie Greenspan’s chocolate chip cookies (love to make a batch and divvy them up as little thank-you gifts for people at work who go above and beyond). But since it’s October, I have to say that the cutest way I ever used a chocolate chip was back in the day when I made meringue “ghosts” for my daughter’s kindergarten class. Mini-chocolate chips were the eyes!

My favorite recipe is an old Canadian one from some classmates of my mom via Action Nanaimo. It’s a banana muffin made with whole wheat flour and peanut butter. Mom and I swap out Nestle mini morsels for the chopped peanuts. Big hit for all who have tried it!

He swears up and down that he can sniff them out but every now and again I find a good spot to keep them (so that I can eat them straight out of the bag, of course). :)
