Posted by Ole & Shaina Olmanson on August 25th, 2010 at 11:18 am

eataly founders New York 200x300 Eataly in New York Opening Next Week!On August 31, Eataly, a 50,000-square-foot Italian food concept grocery store with tasting rooms and restaurants will open in the Toy Building at 200 Fifth Avenue. The brainchild of Joseph Bastianich, Mario Batali, Lidia Matticchio Bastianich and Oscar Farinetti, Mario Batali has stated this food meca encourages you to “come and taste some things and then take them home and cook them.”

Eataly will feature Italian foods and styles, but the majority of fresh ingredients will be sourced from the States states Batali. The 60-seat fine dining restaurant, Manzo, will serve sushi-style Piedmontese beef. A year-round beer garden will feature microbrews, and a Neapolitan pizzeria will be baking their dough in a traditional wood-fire pizza oven. There will be a cooking school, Italian wine store, retail sections, a bookstore and, of course, groceries. As a food lover, I am dying to go and explore all the wonders that this space holds.

Check out Eataly’s floor plan in the New York Post. You can also get a first look inside the building fo Eataly at Eater! Will you be visiting Eataly the next time you’re in the neighborhood? Stay updated by following Eataly on Facebook to get all the latest news and information.
