Our Favorite After School Snack: Apple Slices with Nutella
Sometimes the simplest things are the best. This snack is no exception. I don’t know if there’s much to say about these, other than when you take something great, add it to something better, and then roll it in peanuts (or another nut), you can’t really go wrong.
Of course, most of us have tried apples with peanut butter, or Nutella and strawberries. Both of those combinations are pretty popular at our house. But I made these apple slices dipped in Nutella and then rolled in peanuts last fall, and I haven’t been the same since. The tartness of the apples paired with the chocolaty smoothness of the Nutella and the crunch of the peanuts extremely satisfying.

Sabrina commented on Sep 27 10 at 7:36 pmMy 9 year old made these after school today. She liked the idea of combining 2 of her favorite treats into one. We were out of nuts so the kids used sesame seeds instead and enjoyed them.
Rona D'Aniello commented on Sep 28 10 at 12:38 pmAs a Registered Dietitian I take exception to the description of apples coated with Nutella as a “healthy snack.” Considering the childhood obesity epidemic in America, should we really be coating apples apples with 200 extra calories, 11 grams of fat and 21 grams of sugar (not counting the nuts!)to tempt kids to eat them?
