5 New Celebrity Mommy Books Hitting Shelves!
Time was, the entrepreneurial Hollywood mom tried her hand at writing children’s books when she was looking for opportunities to cross-market. These days, its all about the mommy memoir. So which celebrity moms have new books coming out this spring? Check it out…
Tori Spelling, unCharted terriTORI
Due out: June 15
At this point, if you feel like you don’t know much about Tori Spelling its because you haven’t been paying attention. After five seasons of Tori and Dean, two bestselling books-sTORItelling and Mommywood- and this recent interview on Babble, Tori’s thoughts on her life as a parent are not exactly a secret. But somehow this Hollywood daughter-turned-mother remains utterly charming. I imagine she’d be a fun mom to knock back a few cocktails with and swap mommy stories from the trenches. My advice: READ IT.
Jill Zarin, Secrets of a Jewish Mother: Real Advice, Real Stories, Real Love
Came out: April 15
Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen, Little Kids, Big City: Tales from a Real House in New York City
Came out: April 6
In case you ever watched an episode of The Real Housewives of New York City and thought to yourself ‘Hmm, these moms are so great. How can I be more like them?’ Well, here’s your answer. The books, which were released within a week of each other earlier this month, have slightly different focuses. (I’m sure it is an accident that the release of these books was so close. These women aren’t at all competitive or anything.) McCord’s book, which she wrote with her goofy husband, focuses on the experience they had raising young kids in the city. Zarin takes a different approach, co-writing the book with her sister and mother and doling out life advice with a “Jewish mother” frame of reference. Both are sure to offer their fair share of amusement–but couldn’t you just get your dose of these two by watching the show? My advice: SKIM IT.
