Tim Burton Ponders Frankenweenie
It really is a shame. It would have been wonderful if all of you could have squeezed into my pocket and journeyed with me to merry olde England to the amazing set of Tim Burton’s new film Frankenweenie. Sure, it might have been a bit dark and uncomfortable in there, but it would have been worth it. While you may be in awe once you see the finished results of Burton’s newest masterpiece, it pales in comparison to the amount of artistry, effort, creativity and sheer patience that went into the making of this new stop-motion animated epic by the king of, well, stop-motion animated epics.
The result will look effortless, you won’t see the meticulous details that are involved in every single aspect, in every single second of the film, in every single character, prop and location. From the greenery artisan fine turning minature blades of glass (in the form of re-purposed astroturf) to the 20 to 30 different “blinks” used to create one single fluid eye movement of a character’s glance, to the tiny lamps and toys in Weird Girls’ room, it’s all extremely well thought out and awesome… Continue reading »
Helena Bonham Carter A Movie Star Goth
Helena Bonham Carter – star of a myriad of critically acclaimed films from Fight Club to The King’s Speech to Howard’s End – doesn’t embrace the movie star image she rightly deserves. Rather, she opts to go Goth.
On this day, as many, Helena looked like she would rather be in her bedroom sulking to the sounds of Bauhaus, Joy Division or the Cocteau Twins then hitting an award show. And her Goth ways don’t find inspiration from the new fangled Goths of today with their tattoos, little ironic lunchboxes or pricey hair extensions, rather she goes old school. She pulls of a way more goth look circa 1985. And it helps that she’s married to Tim Burton, who is like the god to the Goths (Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride…need I say more?).

“Beetlejuice” star Glenn Shadix has died following a fall at his home in Birmingham, Alabama.
The wheelchair-bound actor who played pretentious interior decorator Otho who communed with the spirits in Tim Burton’s hit film, banged his head after falling and died. He was 58.
“He was having mobility problems, and he was in a wheelchair,” his sister Susan Gagne said. “It looks like he fell and hit his head in the kitchen, and that’s the cause of death.”
However, Shadix’s personal manager Juliet Green says that the cause of his death is still unknown.
Here are five things about the star:
1. Shadix was a regular in Burton films. He was among the cast of “Planet of the Apes” and voiced The Mayor in “The Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D”. He retired from acting in 2006.

Tim Burton’s take on Alice in Wonderland will be hitting the theaters March 5th. And it’s a family affair, he cast his partner and mother of his children Helena Bonham Carter in the role of the Red Queen.
Since he seems to have his own family and family flicks on the mind, it makes sense that he’d revisit yet another Disney classic. This time it’s rumored that he’ll take on Sleeping Beauty.
