Tom Cruise to star in Rock of Ages the movie?
Tom Cruise will be starring in The Rock of Ages – the movie?
Yes, the actor will star as Stacee Jaxx in the film version of the rockin’ stage production which features some of the best ’80s rock music. He’ll play the sleazy aging rocker whose glory days are long gone.
Cruise will perform songs like Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive” and Styx’s “Renegade”.
I have a hard time picturing Cruise in this role… maybe I’m biased because I loved the Toronto production starring Peter Deiwick as Stacee Jaxx, who nailed the role. Yvan Pedneault portrayed an amazing Drew – what a remarkable voice.
To see Hollywood actors like Cruise playing these roles just doesn’t do it for me.
But Director Adam Shankman thinks otherwise.
“I think we’re going to see him every drop the rock’n'roll god,” says director Adam Shankman, who also helmed 2007 movie musical “Hairspray.”

Russell Brand and Chris Brown were on Saturday Night Live last night but I was surprised by how lame SNL was considering how funny Russell Brand is! The best part of SNL last night was the digital short that made fun of British gangster movies.
One of the best bits on last night’s SNL was the digital short, which spoofed the British gangster movie genre, and like all the other SNL digital short videos, it was laugh out loud funny. The British movie short, Don’ You Go Rounin’ Roun to Re Ro was hailed as “a can’t-miss British film, if you like movies you cannot understand”!
