Paula Deen: I Won’t Give Up Butter!
No more sweet tea for Paula Deen – but don’t take away her butter!
Paula just revealed on the Today show that she’s had type 2 diabetes for the last 3 years. She chose to keep it secret for this long because “I had to figure things out in my own head,” she told Al Roker.
But now that she’s had time to adjust to the idea – not to mention nailing down a nice deal with a pharmaceutical company to promote their diabetes-management campaign – she’s coming forward to talk about her illness. “Now I have something to offer people,” she explains in this week’s Parade magazine.
The popular Food Network host credits her sons with helping her through the crisis. “They are the most precious things in my life. They have always been so supportive of their mother, and when times are hard, they’ve never left my side.”
But even though poor diet is a risk factor for this form of diabetes (along with age, weight and genetics), Paula is surprisingly unapologetic about the rich Southern cooking that made her famous.
For instance, she won’t be using margarine instead of butter. “Margarine is one molecule away from eating plastic,” she says. “There is a chance that I can cut down on the amount of butter now that I’m aware, but will I cut butter out of my life completely? No. I will take measures to manage it.”
Paula Deen: Paula Deen Riding Things
Paula Deen is hosting the fourth hour of the Today show with Hoda this morning but have you seen Paula Deen Riding Things?
Paula Deen Riding Things started when the site’s owners Photoshopped Paula on a stick of butter. The image of the celebrity chef riding a stick of butter was so powerful that now we see Paula Deen riding everything from the Twitter Fail Whale to the Loch Ness Monster. And Paula Deen riding in Justin Bieber’s hand. The list goes on and on!
Paula Deen Riding Things has become an Internet hit! The website has gotten national and international press from the following media entities:
Even Jimmy Fallon has tweeted about the site!
PaulaDeenRidingThings.com will not accept any images of Paula Deen riding anything rude, crude or that would hurt Paula Deen’s feelings. The creators of the website LIKE Paula Deen and they love a funny joke but not at the expense of anyone else. For example, after the Japan earthquake, the owners of the website posted this notice:
“We will absolutely not be posting any submissions relating to or making light of the disaster in Japan, of which we have received a large amount. if you submit them, they will be ignored, along with whatever you submit in the future, regardless of content. submissions like these are tasteless, devoid of any humor, and they will not be recognized.”

Paula Deen on Today Show, St. Patricks Day
Paula Deen is Co-hosting the TODAY Show fourth hour today with Hoda! One of America’s favorite chefs will be giving Koda some tips on food for St. Patrick’s Day. Paula Deen says she is hooked on Ireland:
“I’m a girl from Savannah, Georgia who somehow started a travel business to Ireland. I don’t know what it was exactly, but the first trip I took there had me hooked. I guess Ireland is not so very different than Savannah. The charming people, green landscapes, Cliffs of Moor (okay, that’s certainly different). I love everything about Ireland, most especially the great breads.”
“The Irish countryside has a wealth of pubs and restaurants that serve mouthwatering breads with stews and soups. The best meals I had were the simple but hearty! My favorite meal was at Morin on Weir, between Galway and Shannon on my first trip there. We got the recommendation (and some sketchy directions) from a local. As we pulled into the parking area there were gentleman in their tweeds listening to the horse races on the radio. Races on which I can only assume they all had placed bets. We took the crowd as a good sign and we were right. It was the best meal of the trip.”

Top Chef All Stars Deep Fries for Paula Deen
The Top Chef All-Stars had to cook with a deep fryer for the quickfire challenge judged by Paula Deen. “If you can eat, you can fry it,” says Paula. Definitely not a healthy challenge, but it’s a fun one!
There was a little drama when Richard said that Mike stole a dish from the notebook Richard keeps during the competition.
Dale and Carla were on the bottom. Antonia was Paula’s favorite but she couldn’t win because she only put up one dish. “I could come over there, put you over my knee, and whip your cute little ass. Why did you not follow the rules?” is what Paula Deen had to say to her.
Richard’s fried mayo and Mike’s “stolen” dish were the top two, with Mike winning the quickfire challenge on tonight’s Top Chef All-Stars. Continue reading »
Paula Deen Is Grand Marshal
Food Network cook Paula Deen has quite the new year ahead of her starting today as she will be the grand marshal of the annual Tournament of Roses Parade.
“It’s gonna be surreal, probably even after it’s over,” the ever-pleasant Deen muses of being selected for the title previously given to others from fellow “foodie” Emeril Lagasse and Frank Sinatra to Shirley Temple (three times) and airplane captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger (last year). “For this to be one of your traditions that you watch every year, then to be on the other end and suddenly be there, it’s just surreal.”
Kate Gosselin Is Considered Too Controversial For Pilot
So it turns out Kate Gosselin will not be in a show with Paula Deen after all. It turns out that TV executives think she’s too controversial.
