Today, NASCAR kicked off its season at the Daytona 500, which is annually one of the largest sporting events in America. And an unsuspected racer won – 20-year-old Trevor Bayne.
Not only did Trevor Bayne win the race today, but he also made history by becoming the youngest person to ever win the Daytona 500. Bayne, who races for Wood Brothers, battled with some of NASCAR’s biggest names and during the final laps he took over to win the race. Continue reading »

Christina Aguilera could tell a lesson from Laura Bell Bundy. Laura Bell Bundy sang the National Anthem at the NASCAR Bud Shootout 2011 on Saturday night and didn’t screw up the words! Imagine that!
Laura Bell Bundy also sang a pre-school concert and was scheduled to sing an hour-long concert after the Bud Shootout 2011 was over.

Trying to keep track of the NASCAR schedule? The Bud Shootout 2011 will be on FOX tonight at 8:10pm ET.
The first 13 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points races will be on FOX. Then, TNT will have the next 6 races, plus the Kentucky Speedway NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on July 9. ESPN and ABC will have the final 17 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events.
Of the 34 NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2011, ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 will air 33 of them, while SPEED airs one.

Race Car Driver Shane Hmiel was critically injured during qualifications for a U.S. Auto Racing Club race in Terre Haute, Ind. on October 9th. The 30-year-old was airlifted to a hospital where he has been put into a medically induced coma and is in critical condition. Happy baby news for Jeff Gordon and his wife, Ingrid Vandebosch… the couple announced the birth of baby boy Leo Benjamin Gordon today.
Baby Leo was born at 8:53 a.m. on August 9, weighing in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces.
This is the second child for NASCAR champ Jeff Gordon and his wife. Gordon released a statement that said: “He’s happy and healthy, and Mom is doing great.” Continue reading »
