By now, everyone can agree that the biggest news story to make headlines from MTV’s Video Music Awards was Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement and full-on baby bump display (sorry, Jo Calderone).

Both Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga are young, talented women who are impressionable to young girls. Who is the better role model?
It’s difficult to compare since they are so obviously different. Taylor is country girl-next-door sweetness and Gaga is completely unique.
Lady Gaga set an MTV Video Music Awards record with her 13 nominations and won five awards, including best female video, pop video and video of the year.
An inspiration to younger girls, she has proven her talent as well as her intelligence. Not short of uniqueness, Gaga has her own individual style and not afraid to express herself.
But when she accepted the video of the year award from Cher, she wore a dress made entirely of meat. We love her shocking ways and theatrical outfits but was this too much?
Why would Lady Gaga wear a meat dress? What is her statement this time? This left many scratching their heads.

It’s the night for Lady Gaga!
Lady Gaga, who set a MTV Video Music Awards record with her 13 nominations, was awarded video of the year along with best female video, pop video and best dance video for “Bad Romance” and best collaboration for her mini-epic “Telephone,” featuring Beyonce.
Lady Gaga made a dramatic red carpet arrival in an intricate Alexander McQueen gown. The theatrical gown was Victorian-inspired with a Mohawk feather headdress atop a long white wig, and monstrous stilettos.
She thanked the late designer on the red carpet, as well as thanking discharged veterans who have served the country.
I think Lady Gaga is an inspiration to younger girls. She’s definitely not short of uniqueness and has her own individual style, something I think girls can look up to! Em, until she wore the meat dress… what do you think of that?

Lady Gaga, 2010 MTV VMAs
Katy Perry is dressed like a figure skater, Lady Gaga like a peacock. Something about pink and purple space outfits.
And this is just the beginning of the MTV Video Music Awards.
The VMAs are off to an interesting start. Eminem was the opening act with his inspiring song, “I’m not Afraid”. Rhianna then appears in a white wedding-type dress and the two sing “Love the Way you Lie.” The performance wasn’t mind-blowing but Eminem on stage is amazing, period.
Hosting the VMAs is Chelsea Handler who is proving to be a little racy and on the raunchy side. Probably not suitable even for older kids. Some of her jokes involve certain body parts that were pretty inappropriate and uncomfortable.
Chelsea Handler did a spoof with Lindsay Lohan which was pretty funny, but seeing Lindsay after all her troubles, she looked pretty ragged. Feel sad for Lindsay, hopefully her appearance will be the beginning of a comeback?
Lindsay Lohan is set to make an appearance tonight at MTV’s Video Music Awards. Is she ready to be a good role model?
The troubled actress is not only set to appear, but she has been spotted at rehearsals for the show in the past couple days. She is also sporting her old look – strawberry blonde locks.
This will mark Lohan’s first formal appearance since being released from jail and rehab. She plans on addressing her recent troubles.
Could this be the start of a much anticipated comeback for the former Mean Girl? We can only hope so.
We’re learning of yet another tragic young death in the entertainment world – Avenged Sevenfold drummer James Owen Sullivan, aka The Rev, has been found dead at his home in Huntington Beach, CA. He was only 28.
