Apparently it’s not easy to travel light if you’re the First Lady! Michelle Obama and her youngest daughter Sasha, 9, arrived on Spain’s Costa del Sol today for a short summer break on the same day as her husband’s 49th birthday. They are staying for four days in the luxurious five-star Hotel Villa Padierna in Marbella, rated as one of the world’s top 30 hotels, where they have reserved 60 rooms to cater to family and friends who plan to join them. President Barack Obama was the first American President to make an appearance on a daytime talk show when he was interviewed by the all-female stars of The View today, and he shared his view on the nature of racism: “There’s still a kind of reptilian side of our brain, that part of our brain that if somebody looks different or sounds different that there’s a part of us that is cautious, and what we have to do is fight against it…”

Fox News personality Glenn Beck landed in hot water last week after spending much of his Friday radio show taunting First Daughter Malia Obama, on-air. What appeared to set Beck off was a comment President Obama made at a press conference on Thursday in which he relayed a story abut Malia asking him about the crisis in the Gulf, saying “Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?”
Beck used the comment for the basis of a skit in which he mimicked 11-year old Malia Obama’s voice in a mock dialogue with the President, asking things like “Daddy, why do you hate black people so much?” and “Daddy, why do you still let Sarah Palin destroy the environment? Daddy, why don’t you put her in some sort of camp?” As if that weren’t offensive enough, Beck took time out from the exchange to make a few zingers about Malia’s intelligence. Continue reading »
When Barack and Michelle Obama knew they’d be headed to The White House, they invited Michelle’s mother Marian Robinson along. Apparently, it took some convincing, but the “First Mother-in-Law” has now settled into D.C. life. As when they all lived in Chicago, Robinson is a staple in Sasha and Malia daily Washington routine, such as taking them to and from school nearly every day. Continue reading »
