Mayim gives the green light to attachment parenting
Mayim Bialik has certainly “blossomed.”
The one-time child star – now a Ph.D., thank you! – recently returned to sitcom-land with her recurring role in The Big Bang Theory. But she’s proudest of her role as a mom of two sons who’s also outspoken about attachment parenting. The holistic approach to parenthood emphasizes natural and instinctive methods of childbirth and child-rearing. Among them: home birth, extended breastfeeding, co-sleeping, baby slings and “elimination communication” (a fancy phrase for infant toilet-training – and yes, you read that right).
She recently spoke to USA Today about her new book, Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way. Hitting the shelves in March, the book explains how to become a better parent by understanding and meeting a child’s basic needs.
Mayim calls herself “an accidental advocate for attachment parenting,” but still enjoys helping other moms trust their own instincts. “I don’t really think that I have any authority to write a parenting book,” she says, “so basically, I wrote what this style of parenting looks like in our own house. I have a neuroscience background…and I was trained to study hormones of attachment, so I definitely feel my parenting is informed by that.”
She stresses, “I don’t think that I get to tell anyone how to parent. The idea is more ‘what are the principles behind those kinds of decisions?’ and those [can] inform whatever style of parenting you choose.”
Still, don’t expect the book to be popular among those moms who opt for epidurals, formula, disposable diapers and strollers. Let’s face it: Anxiety and guilt go hand-in-hand with motherhood, and hackles have a way of going up when fellow moms suggest that their methods just might be an eensy bit better for a child than yours.

Over Thanksgiving’s weekend Maggie Gyllenhaal announced to her friends and family that she and Peter Sarsgaard are expecting their second child. Their new addition will join big sister Ramona.
Maggie was spotted doing some last minute Christmas shopping in Manhattan and her baby bump, although under wraps, was made an appearance. And she’s dressing up in some very bold style. Maggie wore two very different patterns.

It was announced this week that Maggie Gyllenhaal is expecting her second child. And if there is one thing we have learned from expectant celebrity moms of the past is that photos of their baby bumps are a hot commodity.
Maggie Gyllenhaal was reminded of this part of celebrity pregnancies when she was spotted, soon after her big announcement, walking with her daughter Ramona in Brooklyn. Maggie had just picked her up from school and did not come prepared with bump hiding devices that many an actress uses like a big scarf, large jacket or an over-sized bag. Instead she tried to hide her baby bump with her small sweater.

Maggie Gyllenhaal expecting baby number two?
Maggie Gyllenhaal has been on major baby bump watch since the end of October, and now sources are telling Life & Style magazine that the actress is, in fact, six-months pregnant with her second child with husband Peter Sarsgaard!
No formal announcement has been made by Maggie yet, but judging from recent photos of her sporting what appears to be a baby bump, my guess is that a confirmation should be coming soon.
A friend of Maggie’s told Life & Style, “Over Thanksgiving weekend, Maggie was telling friends that she’s six months pregnant. The source also added, “She’s thrilled to be pregnant! She and Peter have wanted another child for a while. They’re very happy that they’ll have another baby in the house soon.”
Maggie Gyllenhaal is ready for fall!
Maybe it’s because I live in New England, but in my opinion, there is really no better time of year than fall. There’s just something about the air getting cool and crisp, hearing the leaves rustling under my feet, and pumpkins & apple cider that instantly puts me in a good mood and makes me appreciate where I live so much more.
In addition to gorgeous weather and fun activities, I also love putting away my sundresses and shorts and breaking out sweaters and boots for the season.
Celebrity moms coast-to-coast are also appreciating the change of seasons these days, and many of them have been seen trading their warm weather attire for trendy fall duds.

It may be almost October, but it was actually quite warm and muggy in the northeast yesterday! With temperatures nearing 80 degrees, plenty of people still looked like they were dressed for the summer months.
Maggie Gyllenhaal was spotted with her daughter Ramona in Brooklyn, and both of them were dressed in cool and comfortable sundresses.
Maggie took little Ramona out for a spin on her scooter, which seems to be the choice mode of transportation for celeb kids living in New York City.

The Toronto International Film Festival is still going strong with celebs making red carpet appearances and promoting their films at the popular film fest.
Actress and celebrity mom Maggie Gyllenhaal was on hand to greet fans at the red carpet premiere of her latest big screen offering, “Hysteria.”
Maggie looked great in a conventional, long white dress and bright shade of red lipstick.
