If one year ago, I asked you to compare the lives of Tiger Woods and David Boreanaz, you’d be stumped. Now of course, we know both men were involved in cheating scandals that involved multiple partners, and that the two men may have had at least one partner—Rachel Uchitel—in common.

But the really interesting comparison between Tiger and Boreanaz isn’t in the sordid little details of their infidelity—its between their wives.

Both women were faced with a cheating husband. Both women had to accept that it wasn’t just one woman, one time, but a pattern of behavior stretching across years and multiple partners. Both had to confront the fact that their husbands were texting their mistresses during special family moments (Tiger at the Thanksgiving table, Boreanaz while Bergman was in labor) Both women had to handle the tabloid fallout that ensued. And both women had children whose needs they had to consider as they figured out how to go forward.

David Boreanaz, Jaime Bergman, and son Jaden, 8: just seeing them together at this point in time is shocking. It’s been mere weeks since Bones’ Boreanaz admitted to PEOPLE, “Our marriage has been tainted with my infidelities.” Those infidelities include an affair with Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel.

So seeing Boreanaz and Bergman smiling and making out? Jaime, David? For real? I did a double take. And then a triple take. If it’s genuine, she’s the most forgiving woman in Hollywood. And he’s the luckiest man.

While Jaime Bergman and David Boreanaz have committed to working out their relationship in the wake of the cheating scandal that had Boreanaz texting his mistress while Bergman was giving birth to their daughter, Bergman admits she’s “still angry”.

You think? This is a little like Bernie Madoff’s clients admitting they’d kind of like their money back, or Conan O’Brien admitting he sort of misses doing The Tonight Show. Of course she’s still angry. How could she be anything other than angry? I’m angry for her, and I don’t even know her. Yet Bergman—and her mother—are adamant that Bergman’s marriage to Boreanaz will be saved, and that the two of them will raise their children together in wedded bliss from here on out. In fact, Bergman seems to credit the affair with putting her marriage back on track.

“It took a crisis, it took infidelity to get us off our asses and work for what we want,” Bergman told People. “We do the best we can. That’s all we can do.” Continue reading »

Okay, do you find it strange that David Boreanaz’s mother-in-law is giving interviews to the celebrity press about her daughter’s husband’s cheating scandal? Well, I do. Then again, I find it strange that everybody is so fascinated by it. He’s famous! Famous men cheat. Lots of them. Every day. I guess usually not with the same women Tiger Woods cheats with so it’s especially noteworthy. (And texting his mistress while his wife was in child birth is a new low I suppose.) David Boreanaz’s mother-in-law seems to have taken the news of her son-in-law’s infidelity rather well. She isn’t planning on disowning her philandering son-in-law, saying ‘I told you so’ to daughter Jaime Bergman, or engaging in any name-calling. At least not in any directed at Boreanaz.

But Bergman’s mother, Sue Scallion, has a few choice things to say to Boreanaz’s mistress. For starters, she’s comparing her to a serial killer.

Yup, you read that right.

“These women are making a living off the misery of these families,” Scallion told E! News earlier today. “They’re like serial killers, killing families. It’s not just the spouse that gets involved with another person, the impact goes through the whole family and there’s just devastation.”

That’s funny, because I always thought what killed marriages and families was, you know, people who cheat. I mean, she does know that Boreanaz was like, an equal participant in the cheating part, right? And so, by extension, a co-creator of the impact and the devastation to which she refers? Doesn’t sound like it. As she sees it, Boreanaz was “brave” in coming forward, he and Bergman make a “great family” and they are “not going to give into” the alleged demands for money.

I guess that’s one vote for team David.

Is it me, or is this situation is getting weird and weirder by the minute? The Boreanaz camp seems to be alleging an extortion plot, yet at the same time, no one is mentioning pressing charges or police involvement or anything like that. Meanwhile, attorney Gloria Allred says that we can expect a statement from the mystery mistress in the next few weeks. And going back to December, US Weekly was reporting that Boreanaz was mixed up with Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel. So what gives? Impossible to say at this point, but its pretty clear this story is not going away.

Jaime Bergman, David Boreanaz’s cheated-on wife, can legally sue his ex-lovers. That’s right! In Utah, where Bergman lives, a spouse can file a suit against a mistress if he/she believes the mistress (or mister-ess) had the intention of breaking up the marriage. Holy cow, if you’re going to sleep with a married man or woman, steer clear of the Salt Lake state.

Which begs the question: if Bergman sues, what could she possibly ask for—or want—from her husband’s mistresses? Especially from alleged mistress Rachel Uchitel? After all, I doubt Boreanaz and Bergman are in need of cash. I have a few alternate ideas:
