Howard Stern contract: Dad of three re-ups at Sirius XM
Earmuffs, kids: Howard Stern’s contract has been extended for five more years after a lengthy negotiation process that at one point had him mulling an offer to judge “American Idol” or move to Apple’s iTunes. But just a few days after railing against Sirius XM bosses for implying he’d have to take a pay cut, Stern announced this morning on his show that he will be staying on satellite radio. After two weeks of deliberation, the jury assigned to the Anna Nicole Smith prescription drug trial came back with their verdict. And it wasn’t a good one for Anna Nicole Smith’s companion, confidant, and counsel Howard Stern. He was acquitted of seven of the nine charges, but was charged with two of them. He was found guilty (along with Anna’s psychiatrist) of conspiring to providing powerful prescription drugs. To honor Robert Schimmel’s life, Howard Stern will be hosting a special in Bob’s memory tonight at 7pm.
There is no news yet on the funeral arrangements for the beloved comedian but his Facebook fan page has been updated.
“If you are a close friend, please contact Robert’s family for information on the funeral. A tribute will be coming soon in L.A.”
In addition to the Howard Stern tribute and one planned in Los Angeles, Larry Miller wrote about Bob Schimmel in his blog yesterday, sharing a powerful story about his life. Robert’s parent were both Holocaust survivors.
An important lesson learned was what Robert’s father, Otto Schimmel said as he marched out of the concentration camp: “If you want to live, get up and keep going.”
Comedian Robert Schimmel died this morning of injuries following a car accident.
Schimmel got his start in comedy with some encouragement from comic great Rodney Dangerfield and is well known for his appearances on the Howard Stern Show.
Reaction of his unexpected death is streaming in on Facebook and Twitter.
The death was confirmed by Robert Schimmel’s brother via Facebook on Friday. Jeff Schimmel wrote:
“ROBERT SCHIMMEL. Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Comedian, Generous Man. I have always loved you, admired you, and was proud to be your biggest fan. I will never forget a single moment. R.I.P.”
Fellow comedian Joe Rogan wrote: “I loved that due. He was SUCH a nice guy, and f**ing hilarious… He was one of the nicest guys in comedy.”
Fellow comedian John Heffron wrote: “R.I.P ROBERT SCHIMMEL.”

Recently I was flipping through the channels and stumbled on TLC’s I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant. An epic look at women who were knocked up and went through their entire pregnancy without knowing about their ‘condition’. Did they just think they the turkey sandwich they ate not only filled out their tummy but could kick? Mensa club members they were not.
