Tonight, ABC Family’s “Make it or Break It“ introduces another social issue often faced by young adults.
Eating disorders.
In episode 8, “Rock Bottom”, Kaylie’s battle with an eating disorder begins (preview video below).
Will her friends, Lauren, Emily, and Payson be there to support her, or will they be buried in their own problems?
I’m interested to see how the episode will reveal and address this very important issue among teenagers today.
Here are some very real statistics on eating disorders:
~ 1 out of every 100 young women between 10-20 years old is starving herself, sometimes to death.
~ Nationwide, 12.3% of high school students had gone without eating for 24 hours or more to lose weight or to keep from gaining weight during the last 30 days.
Nicole Richie has a few complaints about how the media treated her when she was looking rather skeletal in 2006 after her weight quickly plummeted: It was irresponsible and insulting for people to speculate she had an eating disorder. Continue reading »

Rachel Zoe, celebrity stylist and reality television personality, has dressed some of Hollywood’s most famous moms, including Jennifer Garner, Demi Moore and Kate Hudson. Zoe strutted her bones stuff recently in a bikini on vacation in ritzy St. Barts. Zoe has denied accusations of having an eating disorder or encouraging her clients to lose weight to look better in clothes as was charged when ex-client Nicole Richie lost too much weight several years ago. Celebrity weight watchers are sounding the alarm on Peter Andre, who has apparently lost some major weight since his split with Katie Price. Rumor has it that he has developed an eating disorder. Now, Pete’s firing back, saying that if anything he’s eating plenty — staying busy is what’s keeping the pounds off.
