It's our favorite love story!
Oh gee, just watching the trailer for this movie brings tears to my eyes. This was my ultimate favorite Disney classic film as a child.

I’ve always wanted to have a cool New York story. One to pull out at cocktail parties and family get-togethers. Thanks to Steven Spielberg’s new movie War Horse, I have one. It includes movie stars, pedi cabs, fancy gowns, blisters and last but not least 19 other “mommy bloggers.”
Here’s the deal. Disney/DreamWorks tore (albeit VERY willingly) us “mommy bloggers,” away from our families to bask in the glitz and glamour of the New York City premiere of War Horse, an adaption of the young adult novel by Michael Morpurgo and the critically acclaimed stage show of the same name. As you know, glitz and glamour are not usually words associated with the word “mommy” or even the word “blogger.” Color all 20 of us a cheery hue of stoked.
So, it’s Saturday night and all us ladies – from Seattle to Florida to Texas and beyond – are decked out in our swankiest outfits. Think perfectly coiffed hair, gowns, and high heels (mine came in at 5 inches). All of us were thrilled to be whisked away to the hot premiere action. Brave!
There has been much written about how Pixar should, nay, needed to finally make a film with a strong female lead character. Up to this point all their main protagonists have been boys or men from Nemo to Woody to Lightning McQueen.
Pixar, they listened. Their next big blockbuster is all girl. A powerful, strong, and bold being wrapped up in the form of an adorable red haired Scottish girl named Merida. It’s a tale of overcoming obstacles and challenging assigned gender roles in old time Scotland, but with that Disney/Pixar touch.
The film has a release date of June 22, 2012. Yes, you will have to wait awhile, but in the meantime check out this stunning clip. It doesn’t just look powerful but perfectly executed.

The Secret World of Arrietty
My daughter believes that little tiny fairy sized creatures live in our house. She has an obsession with anything coming out of Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli. And the girl just loves a good story. Combine the three of those things and it’ll create something right up her alley, and luckily mine too. Enter The Secret World of Arrietty, the utterly charming and lovely upcoming feature from Studio Ghibli being released here in the states in conjunction with the Walt Disney Company.

Ricky Schroeder and Family
Remember little blond haired Ricky Schroder from Silver Spoons? Well, Ricky is all grown up now with a large and ridiculously gorgeous family. The dad of four was seen with his wife Andrea Bernard-Schroder (who you may have seen on Bravo’s Top Design) and their four daughters Holden, Luke, Cambrie, and Faith at the premiere of Disney’s Lion King 3D. The film opens on September 16th for a short time with the Blu-ray 3D version coming out on October 4th.
