Captain Phil Harris from Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch died Tuesday, a spokesperson for the network confirmed.
Erik Gates, a regular on the popular Discovery Channel show MythBusters, has died following a thirty-foot fall at a work site. He was only 47.
Things are not looking good for “Balloon Boy’s” parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene. The couple will voluntarily turn themselves in to authorities if they are charged with a felony for falsely claiming their son Falcon, 6, was carried away in their homemade flying saucer last week. Investigators believe the family may have had an accomplice. As well, Social Services is trying to determine as to whether all three of their sons are safe in the home.
It’s looking more and more like the Balloon Boy incident was a hoax. Despite both the sheriff’s and the father’s earlier insistence that accusations were off-base, that same sheriff now says criminal charges are likely to be filed in the incident. Earlier Richard Heene, the father of the boy who was thought to have been set adrift in a homemade balloon, teased media camped outside his home saying he had a “big announcement” coming up.
The “Balloon Boy Hoax” of 2009 might spawn the hit reality series of 2010. Apparently, after all the publicity that Falcon Heene generated with his fake balloon trip and subsequent outing of his scheming parents — bigwigs at the Discovery Channel think they’ve discovered the perfect combo of family values, dangerous science experiments, and child exploitation. While the sad and frightening story about the missing six-year-old Falcon Heene and his floating away in the family’s storm chasing, experimental aircraft continues to unfold we thought we’d shed some light on the family.
Richard and Mayumi Heene have three boys, one of which witnessed Falcon climb into the homemade balloon that traveled a total of 50 miles, at heights over 7,000 feet, from their Fort Collins home. The Heene family has been featured on ABC’s hit show Wife Swap.
