Sandra Bullock and son Louis split their time between a sprawling, lavish New Orleans house and a sprawling, lavish estate in Austin, Texas. It’s no news to celebrity watchers that her ex, Jesse James, is hoping to move to Austin with his kids, to be closer to Sandra. Now we’ve got pictures of Bullock’s Austin home and James’ Austin spread. Yup, that means it’s time for a celebrity real estate showdown.
Both properties are extensive, and look like paradises for children, complete with plenty of room to roam (or hike, or mountain bike) and gorgeous swimming pools. And yet, there are big differences. Take a look.
Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli are selling their home — and if you’ve got $5.9 million to spare, it’s a steal! Plus it’s one of the few real estate listings I’ve seen where the kids’ rooms really look like kids’ rooms (PHOTOS below), and where, when the photographer came by, they left the toys in the living room. This house is all about the kids. That says a lot about Garth and Facinelli, though we were already sold on their parenting skills.
At the same time, for a couple who seem awfully down to earth, it turns out they’ve been living in the lap of luxury. In addition to having a 5-car garage, 8,400 square feet of living space, and an outdoor kitchen, waterfall pool, and playground, their estate has serious Hollywood pedigree. Manhattan real estate gossips are abuzz over one truly luxe, and perhaps overpriced, property that just hit the market: Uma Thurman’s townhouse. Located in Greenwich Village and boasting 5 floors and 7 bedrooms, one thing comes to mind when looking at the pictures: Kids live here? Because, truly, it doesn’t look anything like a house full of romping, rousting, crayon drawing, and Dora exploring. It’s simply all so destroy-ably white.
And yet, by at least one eyewitness account, the $14.2-million home is usually abuzz with activity, pint-sized and otherwise.
While Gwyneth Paltrow films in Nashville for her role in Love Don’t Let Me Down, sources say she’s turned into a diva. When Gwyneth moved into the luxury building in the city called the Icon, she had production spend more than $100,000 for renovations.
Watch out residents of New York’s East Hampton, Madonna is coming to town. She is renting a 6-bedroom home right near Martha Stewart for the summer.

In order to make their humble $2.5M shack in London more livable, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have purchased the house next door, which they plan to connect to their current home to make one giant 33-room mega-mansion.
