Best Superbowl Ad? The Moms Have Spoken! (Photos)
One of the biggest aspects of the Superbowl isn’t just the wings and 7-layer dip, it isn’t the copious amount of brews being consumed, it isn’t even who wins the biggest football game of the year. One of the most watched, most talked about, most debated are the ads that debut during the breaks of the game.
Most of the year, ads are an annoyance. Something that we skip over, but on Superbowl Sunday everyone seems to pay attention to what the advertisers are trying to sell and making their own picks for the best new ad of the bunch. And this year there was a clear winner – for the women in the audience that is.
There were no explosions, no car chases, no pomp and/or circumstance. It was just David Beckham. In his underwear. Right after the H&M ad aired women (and some men) wiped the drool from their chins and texted, tweeted, and updated their Facebook status with odes to this dad of four.
Why was this ad so remarkable? Let us count the ways (with the assistance of David Beckham in his underwear of course) right here! Plus the ad itself, just in case you want to watch one, two, or twenty more times. Continue reading »
Neil Patrick Harris: No Baby Talk for His Twins
There’s something about babies that turns us all into babbling idiots. No matter how intelligent and well-spoken we are in normal life, we lose our power of intelligible speech when a little one is nearby. It’s all “num-num,” “boo-boo,” “ga-ga” and “wuzza-wuzza” until the kid is old enough to object. (You’re better off not asking me about the song I used to sing when my children soiled their diapers. Really.)
But Neil Patrick Harris is one of the rare exceptions to this rule. In fact, he makes a point of not going all – excuse the expression – babbly when he’s with his twins, Harper and Gideon.
“My parents always talked to my brother and myself like we were regular people and not babies, ” NPH tells People. “So I don’t talk down to them in baby talk. I try to talk to them even though they can’t speak the language yet.”
Sure, he’s missing the fun of being silly – which is part of the joy of being a parent – but if that approach helped produce such a talented actor, more power to him.
Harris recently talked about another communication technique he and David Burtka use on their 15-month-olds.
Eli Manning: Is His Giants Wax Figure Cool or Creepy? (Photos)
I don’t know about you but wax figures always creep me out. Yes, it is impressive the amount of work that goes into creating these waxy tributes to celebrities, but they’re still weird.
One wax figure being celebrated this week at Madame Tussauds is Eli Manning , the Superbowl bound quarterback of the New York Giants (and dad).
How does this wax figure measure up? Does it look a little or a lot like the real thing? Check out photos here and see for yourself! Continue reading »
Celeb Dads Rock the 2012 People’s Choice Awards! (Photos)
Maybe the 2012 People’s Choice Awards should have been called “The Father Knows Best Awards!”
Why? Of the stars who took home that coveted teardrop trophy, an impressive number were actors and singers who hold the even-more-coveted title of Dad.
Take Johnny Depp here. He was a double winner, first for Favorite Movie Actor and then for Favorite Animated Movie Voice for playing the title role in Rango. But when he’s not in front of the camera or emoting in front of a microphone, he’s the father of Jack and Lily-Rose (by longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis).
Other proud papas who got the People’s vote include a superstar rapper, a movie vet and a sitcom star who’s busy with a twin boy and girl.
Take a look at the dads who won! Continue reading »
Pete Wentz, Girlfriend Meagan Camper, and Bronx Have Triple Movie Date (Photos)
Pete Wentz and his girlfriend Meagan Camper took his adorable son Bronx Mowgli to the movies at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles on Saturday (Dec. 10). The Fallout Boy frontman, who recently finalized his divorce from ex-wife Ashlee Simpson, reportedly saw a 3D movie with his girlfriend and son.
I wonder which movie they ended up seeing this weekend. Could it have been the family-friendly Hugo or rom-com New Year’s Eve? What do you think?
I suppose all that hope that Wentz and Simpson would reconcile is out the window for the time being. Nothing is ever permanent though. There’s always hope for the future.
On a positive note, Bronx has two loving parents who treat him exceptionally well!
Take a look at the photos below!
Hot Dad Alert: Colin Farrell At The American Giving Awards (Photos)
We don’t see him very often on the red carpet these days but when we do, HELLO! Baby daddy Colin Farrell looked incredibly dapper at the American Giving Awards in Hollywood on Saturday.
While Colin has two sons with two different baby mamas – we forgive him. I mean, this man can make any woman pregnant with that stare of his. Just look at him! It’s not like he looks like Kevin Federline.
Check out our photos of Colin and tell us, is his look a hit or miss? (The answer is pretty obvious.)
Hot Dads in the City: Celebrity Edition! (Photos)
Babble’s Allana Harkin of Eating Over the The Sink (with Samantha Bee & Allana Harkin) fame has a confession. Allana admitted her adoration and attraction for a category of handsome men that she’s been noticing on the streets of her city. Not single stud muffins, not manly models, but men in the full throes of parenting – a breed of man she has dubbed the “Hot Dad in the City.”
Allana brought up the point, “Is it me, or is the hottest thing out there an involved dad?” Adding that, “at the end of the day there is nothing more attractive than a man who takes on an equal share of the parenting duties.” Plus “they look hot carrying babies. Sorry, they just do.”
We at Famecrawler would like to pay homage to those hot dads in the city, but in celebrity form! Check out these 12 darn hot (and involved) city dads right here. Continue reading »
