Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend Matthew Rutler were arrested early Tuesday morning. The couple was pulled over by the cops because their car was driving erratically. If you haven’t seen the documentary, The Oxycontin Express, you need to watch it. The news that Dr. Conrad Murray will fact manslaughter charges for the death of Michael Jackson, puts the epidemic of prescription drug addiction in the spotlight.
Current TV’s award winning series “Vanguard” created a disturbing but powerful documentary about the OxyContin Addiction problem, and The OxyContin Express is tough to watch but it’s important to be aware of this addiction epidemic, especially if you have children. The Huffington Post puts the prescription and OxyContin addiction problem into perspective:
“On the same day that Michael Jackson died of a prescription drug overdose, so did 11 other people just in Florida alone…If you’re counting, that’s roughly 6,000 overdoses – just in one state – in the time between the deaths of the “King of Pop” and Heath Ledger…”
I watched the documentary recently and was blown away. There is an Oxycodone addiction crisis in the United States right now. Oxycodone is best known by the brand name OxyContin. OxyContin is a strong narcotic pain reliever similar to morphine. Continue reading »
