The King’s Speech and The Fighter won big at last night’s SAG awards and Betty White flirted with her trophy after winning in the TV category. Natalie Portman continued her winning streak by taking home the Best Actress honor for her amazing performance in Black Swan.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards gave the top prize to The King’s Speech. The film won the SAG award for Outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture and star Colin Firth won as best male actor in a film.
Mark Wahlberg’s movie, The Fighter continued the winning streak this awards season for Christian Bale. Bale won the Best Supporting Actor nod for his work in the film, while Melissa Leo, won Screen Actors Guild award for Best Supporting Actress. Continue reading »
Natalie Portman at the Golden Globes
Natalie Portman is on a winning streak! She first won the Golden Globe for her role in Black Swan and has also now won the Screen Actors Guild award!
This was Portman’s first SAG nomination and award!
She looked stunning at the 2011 SAG Awards in a simple, white gown and a beautiful up-do (the photo on the left is of Portman at the Golden Globes 2011).
On top of her professional career success, Portman is also pregnant!
She is engaged to Benjamin Millepied, who was one of the choreographers for “Black Swan.”
Will she go on to win the Oscar? My guess is – yes!

2011 Oscar Nominations
The Oscar nominations were announced this morning. Who will win?
The Golden Globes aren’t always a predictor of Oscar gold but the Globes are still the best predictor of what’s to come for the most prestigious awards in Hollywood.
Up for best picture is The Social Network which won the Golden Globe for Best Drama. Toy Story 3 won for best animated film at the Golden Globes. Will it win best Oscar? Very unlikely. I think it’s either going to be The Social Network or Black Swan.
Colin Firth is nominated for best actor. He won the Golden Globe for his role in The King’s Speech. Will he take the Oscar home too?
Paul Giamatti was not nominated for his role in Barney’s Version, although he won a Golden Globe for best actor in a musical or comedy.

The list of nominees for the 2011 Academy Awards were announced this morning. The King’s Speech received a whopping 12 nominations and True Grit received 10 nominations! I’m so happy about The King’s Speech because it is my favorite movie of this year and one of the best movies I’ve seen in years.

Natalie Portman, earlier this weekend at the Critics Choice Awards
Is Natalie Portman pregnant? Maybe her loose-fitting dress at the Golden Globe Awards confused some people into thinking that the actress had just eaten a few too many cookies after she was finished with her role in “Black Swan.” She was named Best Actress for that role.
After all, she did lose twenty pounds to play that role last year. Maybe Natalie Portman just ate a little too much after she finally didn’t have to keep her weight down so low to fit into her ballerina costumes.
